NEW YORK Ari Fleischer, who served as President George W. Bush's first press secretary, added to the growing criticism of Vice President Dick Cheney's handling of the weekend shooting incident in Texas, telling E&P this afternoon that it "crosses the threshold of news worthiness that ought to be announced and explained."

Fleischer, who was Bush's first press secretary - from 2001 to 2003 - told E&P that Cheney's accidental shooting of Texas attorney Harry Whittington on Saturday during a hunting trip should not have taken nearly a day to be reported. "It would have been better if the vice president and/or his staff had come out last Saturday night or first thing Sunday morning and announced it," he said during a phone interview Tuesday. "It could have and should have been handled differently."

1. and as we all know, he's the supreme arbiter of newsworthiness
its probably just something personal with Ari and he can't resist getting a shot in. If he was still on the team, he'd be spinning like crazy.

2. This is particularly telling ...
Scottie can't come right out and show his displeasure for Cheney ... so Ari and Fitzwater and all of these surrogates are showing just how pissed * is at OilCanDick. I'm starting to think this was all pretext so * can dump him (replace with '08 candidate Condoskeezza).

8. Agreed. Last week someone on this board advised us
to look for a Cheney resignation, but with Frist moving in as VP.

14. I think he has a book
out or something. Maybe he wants someone to remember him and buy his book.

Maybe he thinks he could have spun it better.

13. Bingo. Ari is tattling.
These rats must be really frightened of what Fitz has on them.
