Blackwell choose Raga as running mate
Blackwell choose Raga as running mate
GOP frontrunner's choice from southwest Ohio

By JOE DANBORN
Associated Press Writer

COLUMBUS — Secretary of State Kenneth Blackwell is going back to what he knows best in his bid for governor.

Already a favorite of conservatives for his opposition to abortion, gay marriage and taxes, Blackwell has chosen three-term state Rep. Tom Raga from solidly Republican southwest Ohio as his running mate for the GOP nomination.

The pick, first reported Sunday by The Cincinnati Enquirer on its Web site, strengthens Blackwell’s position in a conservative part of the state in advance of a primary showdown with Attorney General Jim Petro, said Rick Segal, an advertising executive who directed Blackwell’s search.

Raga, who ran unopposed in 2004, “is one of the bright, rising stars of Ohio Republican politics. It’s a good fit,” Segal told the newspaper.

3. I've got family in Ohio, and my dad says that Blackwell is far ahead in
the polls, which somehow seems impossible. Is this true, or is Diebold in the poll taking business as well?

4. Ohians, what the heck is going on there? How could this cheating
SOB have any support in a sensible state? And those laws that the state reps passed? How are these people still in power? Ohians need to take to the streets.

5. This is what a one-party state looks like.
Edited on Mon Feb-06-06 08:34 PM by riqster
We have ONE statewide office held by a Dem, and she is retiring. The Reeps own the place, all four branches of government(I am including the media). Those 'state reps' are mostly Reeps, and passed laws suppressing voting, not reforming elections.

The state Dem party is a bunch of backbiting, ineffectual wussies. Hell, they refused to support our last gubernatorial candidate.

The situation here is dire, and we get hind tit from the national party, even though we are in Diebold country.

All that you see happening in the USA was tried and perfected in Ohio, then taken national. We're way ahead of the curve, dammit.

7. Because Your Votes Are Not Being Counted
we get hind tit from the national party, even though we are in Diebold country.

You get hind tit from the national party BECAUSE you are in Diebold country and your votes do not count.

We saw this last November, when all the reform initiatives got flipped by 30% or more.

All Blackwell needs to do to win an election is type a few lines on a keyboard.
Even the "safe" Democrats in the state are not safe from election theft on such a scale.

What do you think the national party could possibly DO about any of this, unless we can first regain control in Washington?

9. Washington, Schmashington
After the Dems rolled over for Alito, I have given up on them.

Election reform is being fought at the grass-roots level.

8. It is BECAUSE He is a Cheating SOB That Everybody Knows He Will "Win"
After last November, the polling organizations know better than to bet against Blackwell,
regardless of what the actual poll numbers might say.
