Three Civilians, Seven GIs Killed in Iraq ( #2232 )

BAGHDAD, Iraq - Gunmen wearing uniforms of a Shiite-led security force swept into a Sunni Arab neighborhood in central Baghdad before dawn Monday, killing three men and speeding away with more than 20 others, police and witnesses said.

Meanwhile, the U.S. military said seven more U.S. troops had been killed — a soldier in a roadside bombing in Baghdad on Monday, two Air Force members in a blast near Taji north of the capital late Sunday, and four soldiers in a roadside bombing near the northern town of Hawijah on Friday.

There was no word on the fate of kidnapped American journalist Jill Carroll. Iraqi officials said joint U.S.-Iraqi operations were carried out recently to free her, but they provided no details.

Also Monday, bodies of eight Sunni Arabs were found in a field north of Baghdad — five days after they were seized on their way home by bus after being rejected for admission to the police academy in the capital. Twenty-three bodies of the group were found Sunday, and 35 were believed to have been on the bus. Police are often targeted by insurgents.

3. Does Anybody Even Care?
They're just numbers now. The media reports them as an aside. In other news....7 GI's died in Iraq this weekend.

In more important news....Kobe Bryant scores 81 points, and the Steelers are in the Super Bowl.

It's sad, but the only people who really feel traumatized by this, are the families of the dead. Just another sign of how Fucked up the media of this gestapo country are, and how complicit the government is in destroying the lives of soldiers.

7. And the war rages on, with no end in sight, while the blivet
carries on at home, defending his own ass with nary a word about those that gave their lives for this country. They fought for our freedoms that are not being protected but being abused by the same men who sent them there in the first place. What's wrong with this picture?

8. The worst part is that they didn't even fight for our freedoms
Sure, that is what they are designed to do, but it surely not what one solitary soldier, Marine, seaman, or airman is doing in Iraq. Not a single one of them is fighting for our freedoms, in point of fact, and due to no fault of their own.

15. AFP reporting 2,237 dead.... 5 on Monday.
:(

BAGHDAD (AFP) - Five US troops were killed Monday in separate incidents across Iraq, the US military said.

Two soldiers died when their vehicle was struck by a roadside bomb in southeastern Baghdad while two marines lost their lives in a vehicle accident in the restive western province of Al-Anbar.

The military had reported on Monday that one soldier was killed that day in another roadside bomb attack in southwestern Baghdad.

The death toll of US military personnel in Iraq since the March 2003 invasion stands at 2,237 as of Monday, according to latest Pentagon figures.

17. Well, that makes 15 dead since Sunday
Did you notice it was quiet for several days, icasualties count remained at 2222 for two or three days. Since Sunday however, things have exploded, 15 dead americans in two days and nobody says a damn thing.
