La Gov Blanco aide ensnared in Abramoff scandal

WASHINGTON — Super lobbyist Jack Abramoff’s team of associates included eight former congressional staffers, including Stephanie Leger Short who worked for retired Sen. John Breaux and is now Gov. Kathleen Blanco’s lobbyist in Washington.

Leger Short, a native of Lafayette, worked for Abramoff at the lobbying firm Greenberg Traurig from August 2001 to May 2004. She helped Abramoff represent the Coushatta and Chitimacha Indian tribes of Louisiana, the Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians and the Saginaw Chippewa tribe in Michigan. The gaming tribes have accused Abramoff and Greenberg Traurig of excessive billings and other fraud.

Blanco hired Leger Short in December 2004. The Democratic governor’s announcement contained biographical information that extensively detailed Leger Short’s career on Capitol Hill and her education. But it did not mention her time at Abramoff’s firm.

Which means, if one uses these standards to "link Blanco to Abramoff", then by those same standards, ROVE is clearly linked to Abramoff.

Whether it means anything in reality depends on things such as whether Blanco knew about the Abramoff connection & whether there are any actual corrupt Abramoff linkages to Blanco.

Especially since Blanco didn't know the person had worked for Abramoff, because she didn't tell Blanco.
