Frist calls Alito Democrats' "nightmare"
LINK

Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist told Republican Party activists on Friday night that U.S. Supreme Court nominee Samuel Alito was the "worst nightmare of liberal Democrats."

Frist, a Tennessee Republican, made the remark to fellow Republicans during a private tour he gave them of the Senate chamber when the Senate was not in session.

Frist was not available for comment following his remarks.

Asked about the senator's remark, Frist spokesman Bob Stevenson said that Alito "is a thoughtful mainstream conservative jurist who is well respected by his peers, by Democrats and Republicans alike." Stevenson added, "There are liberals, many of them represented by the outside groups, who will do anything to kill any nominee put forward by this administration."

6. it ain't just Dems having nightmares though...
Looking at this guy's record and stance on things like CAP, right to privacy, and executive privelege...(not to mention he LIES like a rug)...AND the fact that he did not recuse himself from a case in which he had financial interest...
extrapolate that to some cases that might just soon be coming up before the SCOTUS
(do you really think he'd recuse himself from a case involving the guy who nominated him for the position?)...
:hide: :scared:

I'm having a bit of trouble with sleep meself.

9. They're like a bunch of high school kids
rooting for their school's football team and screaming insults at the other school's team. They have absolutely no concept that they're trying to run a country, and that we all live here, not just the fucking idiots who voted for them. They're so twisted with hate for anyone who doesn't belong to their clique, their school, their cult, that they have no idea just what they're supposed to be doing.

13. That occurs to me often lately, too
Many Republicans these days seem to enjoy being part of the Hivemind. They talk about "freedom" all the time while supporting the thugs who are systematically removing their freedoms. They say they're rugged individualists when they're really the simplest kind of conformists.

18. I wonder the same thing
when did politics become nothing more but a battle ground and when did it become common place to fight about everything? I remember a time when politics was compromising and working towards the common good and there was most generally a sense of pride and accomplishment when all was said and done. Now it is the exact opposite, the pride comes from winning it all no matter who it hurts as long as it isn't you and the gloating. The immature, child-like gloating. And they don't feel any shame!! That is one of the things that puzzles me the most. How can grown men gloat like that and not be ashamed. I understand a bratty kid, but grown men with ivy league educations? How bizarre.

12. Frist is half right, Alito is a nightmare
But as for the part about Alito "is a thoughtful mainstream conservative jurist..."

No, Alito is far right extremist interested in expanding the police powers of the State and defending corporate interests over those of the citizenry.

And can there be any doubt of what an idiot Bill Frist is?

25. "is a thoughtful mainstream conservative jurist who is well respected by

and there is lies the problem -- that this guy -- who managed not to recuse himself in the vangaurd case -- who ruled that stripping searching children, who made a beyond the pale commentary in the case of an annaly raped mentally challenged boy -- is well respected by his peers.

27. Behind closed doors they tell the truth
Alito is a nutcase in the Thomas mold with lots of personal resentments he's just dying to take out the the rest of us.

Of course they cover it up with the "mainstream jurist" spin after Frist has exposed himself.

29. Filibuster IS the only option
Frist let the cat out of the bag when he said that (what is it with cats and this ass?). Due to the fact that Alito has not been forthcoming with answers the Democrats have no option but to take Frist's words at face value and resist at all costs. Democrats would be negligent if they didn't!
