Bush says inner circle gives him dissenting views

STERLING, Virginia - President George W. Bush President George W. Bush disputed accusations he relies only on advisers who agreed with him and cited Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld on Thursday as one "crusty old guy" who could freely offer opinions.

...

Without exactly saying so, Bush made clear he disagreed with that point of view. "I think the worst thing that can happen for decision-makers is to get a filtered point of view," Bush said.

He said he has created an environment in which top aides can walk into the Oval Office and tell him what they think, citing in particular Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice and Rumsfeld -- two chief architects of the Iraq war.

"Condi Rice, when she walks in, she comes in as a close friend but as someone who knows that our friendship will be sustained whether she agrees with me or not. Rumsfeld comes in, and he‘s a crusty old guy who‘s got an opinion, and he tells it, and that‘s important."

6. Lying? Honestly, I think he genuinely can't tell the difference.
I just think he's that sad an individual that he can't separate the yes-men from the real men.

16. I can't believe you said that...
You insult dog shit everywhere. How they can ever remove the stain of being associated with Bush is unfathomable to me. :)

My words for Bush however, may be considered just a little harsh. That Gods be damned flying piece of Chimp shit. This guy is less attractive than the slime trail left behind by slugs. He isn't even pond scum, but the flecks of black and brown left behind when a pond dries up. It almost not even worth it to waste such words on a man with the GREAT emptiness in-between his two ears, I'm sure the echo is horrendous when he speaks, especially during cabinet meetings. That lying piece of flea shit that falls in flakes off the coat of dogs and cats. I will not waste anymore words on this human waste.

2. yep
So that means the burden for all policy decisions are squarely on the shoulders of Bush. He has heard all the views, and still made terrible decisions.

That Condi Rice and Rumsfeld are his closest advisors? Time to take to the streets.

5. Are they toadies, or just plain stupid? Another immaterial question
for teh ages. Either they agree with Bush's idiotic initial impressions for the sake of agreeing, or they indepedently come up with their own idiotic ideas. Which one is true? Who cares, as long as the outcome is idiocy?

didn't this moron say he doesn't read papers because they don't get the facts right and so he relies on his advisors to tell him what is going on in the world?

Truly infantile, empty, moronic, and meaningless. Seriously:

"Condi Rice, when she walks in, she comes in as a close friend but as someone who knows that our friendship will be sustained whether she agrees with me or not. Rumsfeld comes in, and he‘s a crusty old guy who‘s got an opinion, and he tells it, and that‘s important."

Even when disputing that he is the "boy in the bubble", he comes across as a "boy in the bubble."

and then there was that nasty fight between Condi and Dick about just how cool the president was.

What a horse's ass. Add to that a lying sack of shit. and for god's sake when the hell is a reporter going to say "All all due respect Mr. President, what you just said was utter bullshit." yeah never but a man can dream can't he.

14. From tomorrow's DU Blog Box column...
Edited on Thu Jan-19-06 03:23 PM by displacedtexan

Talking Point: If it was good enough for Hitler, it's good enough for Bush & Alito

Speaking of the emperor's new clothes Unitary Executive Theory of the Presidency (UETP), the best post on this theory's history comes from Rev. Bill McGinnis at loveallpeople.org, who explains the UETP's pre-Magna Carta origins:

The Unitary Executive Theory (Führerprinzip), Or The King-With-Advisors Form Of Government

(EMAILWIRE.COM, January 14, 2006 ) Alexandria, VA -- The "Unitary Executive" theory is really just another name for the ancient "King With Advisors" form of government, widely used around the world for thousands of years in human history. The basic idea is that the King has the final authority and makes all the final decisions, but that he consults with his advisors, and may or may not heed their advice. The role of the people is to go along quietly with whatever the King wants to do.

Then the good reverend adds:

"There must be no decisions by majority, but only responsible persons, and the word 'council' is once more reduced to its original meaning. At every man's side there stand councillors, indeed, but one man decides."

17. Wow, broad spectrum of opinion in this bunch...
How badly do you have to be fucking people over to make another sold-out rich conservative old white war-hawk be all like "whoa sir, that's where I draw the line..."

What do you have to say to a man responsible for prison torture that will make him say "Hey now, that's too evil...".

This is scarier then just thinking Bush lives in his bubble.

They TELL HIM what his views are.

I don't think he has a clue about any issue until they tell him what he should think.
