Sen. Durbin: U.S. Deserves Honest Leaders
WASHINGTON - America deserves honest leadership in Washington to replace the current Republican-dominated government, Sen. Dick Durbin of Illinois said Saturday in the Democrats' weekly radio address.
.....
In his broadcast, Durbin made several references to civil rights leader Martin Luther King, Jr., who was slain in 1968 and would have turned 77 on Sunday.

Durbin said that in his last book, King wrote: "'There is nothing wrong with power. The problem is that, in America, the power is unequally divided.'"

That's true in Washington today, Durbin said.

"Powerful corporate special interests control the agenda and people who don't have paid lobbyists really don't have much of a voice," he said. "To these power players, the challenges facing America are not problems to solve, but opportunities to exploit."

Those challenges include the lack of affordable health insurance, dwindling pension plans and rising energy costs, Durbin said.

1. All evidence to the contrary...
Sadly, we have the leaders our lazy, self-absorbed voters deserve. Shame the rest of us have to live with them.

3. Durbin's a TRUE ol' time "Dem." I always take time to watch him on CSPAN
I personally feel Durbin would be an EXCELLENT choice for either part of the '08 Dem Prez ticket. (Preferably with Boxer as the other half!)

What a Democracy THAT would create!

4. So what needs to change first?
What is the next step? Bush's next move is to monitize the debt since China is backing off the dollar.

6. New Dem Talking Points...
Last Saturday's radio address was given by Louise Slaughter. She mentioned several of her concerns which were also excellent phrases to quote when discussing Dem policies. She mentioned the:

1. need for "HONEST leadership in Washington"

2. growing "Republican ethical crisis"

...and of course we already have:

3. the Republican "Culture of Corruption" and...

4. the Republican "Culture of Cronyism"

Now, if we all do our part to drip..., drip..., drip..., these small descriptions of the Republican party into our political conversations...we would definitely be helping to get the message out. Try it.

We need HONEST leadership in Washington....there is a growing Republican ETHICAL CRISIS...we have a Republican CULTURE OF CORRUPTION...we have a Republican CULTURE OF CRONYISM.....again....
