2 Said Killed in U.S. Copter Crash in Iraq

The Associated Press

BAQOUBA, Iraq - A U.S. helicopter was reported to have crashed northeast of Baghdad Tuesday, and Iraqi police said two U.S. personnel had been killed. U.S. forces cordoned off the area and were looking for the helicopter, a U.S. official said.

The Diyala police said that a U.S. helicopter had crashed or been shot down near the village of Jezani al-Chol, about 15 miles east of Baqouba, which is 35 miles northeast of Baghdad.

The joint coordination center of the Diyala police also said that two U.S. soldiers had been killed.

Maj. Steve Warren, a spokesman for the 3rd Brigade Combat Team, said U.S. officials had received the report from the Diyala police and were looking for the helicopter.

3. Apparently a false report
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20060103/ap_on_re_mi_ea/iraq_helicopter

BAQOUBA, Iraq - The U.S. military said Tuesday that none of its helicopters had crashed after searching for a downed aircraft following a report by an Iraqi army soldier that one went down northeast of Baghdad.

4. We're experiencing some serious
losses of heavy equipment and machinery. Not to mention the lives involved.

On another thread, I believe it said we have now lost 80 Abrams tanks in Iraq. We've lost ___________how many Blackhawk helicopters? A huge amount, no doubt. Also, these losses are not included in requests for war funding, so it's actually much higher.

But even worse is the loss of lives. You can always replace machinery.
