Trump mulling Albany run, say GOP sources

By JOE MAHONEY
DAILY NEWS ALBANY BUREAU CHIEF

ALBANY - Could New York's state capitol building become the next Trump Tower?

Republican sources said The Donald - who in 1999 toyed with the idea of running for the White House on the Reform Party line - is mulling a bid to persuade New Yorkers to hire him as their next governor.

Senate GOP leader Joseph Bruno tantalized reporters yesterday by declaring a wealthy mystery candidate is "thinking" about seeking the party's backing to replace Gov. Pataki.

...snip...

Several Republican insiders said Bruno is struggling to get a "big name" for the race because he's concerned upstate billionaire Tom Golisano - often mentioned as a potential GOP candidate for governor - may decide against running a fourth time.

29. Me too
:wtf: I'm sure I heard him saying he was voting Democratic. I know just voting that way doesn't mean you actually are a Democrat but still it means you don't think much of the other party's candidates.

2. Hmmm, I didn't think The Donald was even a Republican...honestly
During the 04 campaign he made more than a few statements that favored Kerry. One, in particular that I remember was Trump saying how unbelievable it was to him that "they" took a real war hero who served during Vietnam and made him look bad against a guy who never went.

8. Trump needs to feed his ego..........
he will let the press speculate on a run and then will decline in the end. He has too many conflicts of interests to be able to serve as Gov. and run his empire. Besides the Indians hate him for being 2-faced over casinos and his election could muck up the pending court cases & claims.

9. I hope he does run. He should be an EASY target.
How many times has he gone BANKRUPT already - 3, 4 times?

And each time he leaves the little guy holding the shit.

I sure hope they follow this idiot around everywhere he goes, just like they did to the Gropenator in California.

This guy was BORN into his daddy's wealth and thinks he's a self made man.

25. Relax. Trump's just playing the public like he always does.
Whenever he needs money and/or publicity to get money, his PR people do this nonsense. Remember when he talked about running for president in 2000 with Oprah as his VP? Another one of his any-idiot-can-be-a-billionaire books came out around that time. I figure, he's doing it now for his "Trump University" that promises to make you successful for this online unaccredited so-called college.

Whenever any of us responds (myself included) to the PR byline of the moment regarding this gasbag, he gets what he wants: attention.

27. Is he even a Republican?
"I think anyone who has lost a son, a daughter, or a loved one in the war in Iraq should sue The New York Times for Judith Miller's false reporting about the so-called "weapons of mass destruction" as a premise for that war. It's one thing to get a bad review, it's another to lose more than 2,000 lives because of false or inaccurate reporting. Imagine having the Judith Millers of the world working for you and getting away with things that are inconceivable to a journalist. We have to draw the line somewhere, and that's where I draw the line. All the news that's fit to print seems to have evolved into "whatever we decide to print is the news, whether it is correct or not!""

*****

"Not that long ago, gas prices were at an all-time high, and we were going ballistic. When we were paying as much as $3 a gallon, I couldn't help but direct my anger at oil-producing countries. I was convinced that they were to blame for the soaring costs, and I was angry at our government for not taking more aggressive measures to slow price increases.

Imagine my surprise when the stories came out about how much money the oil companies have been making. While drivers have been paying record prices at the pumps every time they fill their tanks, the oil companies apparently have been making historic profits. It's actually quite unbelievable.

Exxon's profits were up 75 percent to 9.9 billion in the third quarter alone. Shell reported a net income of $9 billion. British Petroleum reported $6.5 billion of profit in the third quarter, and ConocoPhillips reported $3.8 billion. Those are astounding numbers.

I know that the purpose of business is to make money, and I never want to begrudge an organization its profits. But all this time we assumed the oil companies were struggling like the average consumer. This was one time where they could've buckled down just a little bit. They could've taken a little less of a share of the profits so that they wouldn't have passed on such a big burden to the consumers.

Yet here we are, eating the costs of higher oil prices. Something has to be done in Washington."

If running as a GOP, why were Bill & Hillary at his recent wedding ... while no boooshie's were anywhere (not even peeing in the bushes!) and apparently not invited?
