Insurgent sniper shoots at two US soldiers west of Baghdad

An Iraqi sniper shot at two U.S. soldiers at a U.S. military base in the flashpoint city of Fallujah, some 50 km west of Baghdad, witnesses said on Wednesday.

"A sniper on the roof of a building shot at two U.S. soldiers guarding the base in central Fallujah early in the morning," Abdul- Rahman, a local journalist, told Xinhua.

The U.S. troops then opened fire randomly after the attack, Rahman said.

It was not immediately known whether shooting attack resulted in U.S. casualties.

In a separate incident, another U.S. military base in eastern Fallujah was pounded by three rockets at about 11:30 p.m. (2030 GMT) on Tuesday night, witnesses said.
