Chad in 'state of war' with Sudan
Chad says it is in "a state of war" with neighbour Sudan over the security crisis in the east of the country.

It accuses Sudan of being the "common enemy of the nation" after a Chadian rebel attack on a town last week.

In a statement, the government calls on Chadians to mobilise themselves against Sudanese aggression.

Relations between the two states have deteriorated since Chad accused Sudan of being behind Sunday's attack on Adre, which left about 100 people dead.

Country profile: Chad

A largely semi-desert country, Chad is rich in gold and uranium and stands to benefit from its recently-acquired status as an oil-producing state.

Well that fucking sucks.

1. Given Chad has oil and uranium...
Does that mean we'll hop in on their side, aid them in their war, and kiss their asses?

OR

Does that mean we'll hop in on Sudan's side, take Chad over, and occupy it?

Decisions, decisions....

4. Well it's going to be an ugly business if it's allowed to proceed.
We'll have a civil war in Ethiopia, an Ethiopia-Eritrean
war, the civil disorder in Darfur, and then a Chadian-Sundanese
war dropped on top of the Darfur business.

7. Sudan better not fuck with Chad
Qaddafi tried to invade Chad about 20 years ago. He sent his Russian-made tanks down there and the Chadian army met them with Toyota pickup trucks. The tanks plodded through the sand while the trucks -- with soldiers in the back with RPGs -- zipped around them. Guess who won?

8. I thought Libya was "occupying" Chad
I thought the Libyan army was still occupying Chad?

I'm a pretty up-to-date on the world kind of guy, but sometimes the ol' grey matter feels a little, well, old. The sad thing is, I'm still young.

10. My thanks. Here's a couple of more articles you may be interested in
