Sen. Salazar: Bush ‘arguably’ broke the law

DENVER - Colorado's junior U.S. senator says President Bush "arguably" violated the law by authorizing wiretaps on American soil without approval of a court, but he said it's much too soon to call for impeachment.

...

"There are arguably legal violations that have occurred here on the part of the president," said Sen. Ken Salazar, D-Colo.

Salazar called for congressional hearings to sort out the facts. He has heard some people call for impeachment of the president.

"I think it is still too early to jump into that kind of a discussion," he said.

1. Since people are arguing over it....
I believe that makes it "arguable". No?

9. Yes, and Nicole Simpson and Ron Goldman are arguably dead.
Salazar, your little toe dipping into the water isn't impressing anybody.

19. He's a senator.
Sorry folks, the US Senate is not like this discussion board. He must use fudge words to cover his ass. I don't blame him, and give him credit for saying what he said - that Bush is an as of yet unindicted criminal.

23. I agree
as a politician you cant just jump up on a soapbox as soon as a little bit of information starts trickling out. Wait for all the facts to come out and then call for his impeachment.

25. He can use another word than "arguably"
He can pretend he's a Republican, how about that, and use strong language. I don't remember the Repubs tiptoeing through fields of arguable tulips over Clinton and his molehill of an indiscretion.

It's righteous outrage that gets the people's attention. What bush did, he did, and all the pretty words in the world, all the courtesy and civility accorded him in sugarcoated phrases, are not going to change that fact.

expressing any discontent with this band of thugs.

6. I Don't Think There Is ANY Argument About It
He broke the law--impeach him, remove him, indict him, convict him, and then send him to the Hague for trial and imprisonment on war crime and crimes against humanity.

Bag of political hot air
poster boy, whose claim to fame
is the little letter after his name.

I'm a bit short of patience with moral compasses that resemble lavalamps--ffaaaahh.

Fucking imbecile, if Bush broke the law, please simply say so. You are opening yourself up to ridicule with such Durbinesque equivocation.

16. Salazar says...
when talking about impeachment..."I think it is still too early to jump into that kind of a discussion," he said.
Personally, I think it's PAST time to be talking about impeachment. Leading the country into an illegal war on phony information was enough. Abandoning U.S. citizens of the Gulf Coast during Katrina was enough. What other acts does Bush have to perform, before Salazar says it's enough?

17. actually this is a very clever way of putting impeachment out there
into the public discourse.

naysayers aside - especially those on this board who revel in the chance to bash a Democrat -

any Democrat -

Salazar is no dummy

he was state AG - he knows how this game is played...

18. Yes it is
And if a reasoned or reasonable-sounding comment leads to an independent investigation of the Bushistas, I have no doubt where that investigation will lead. Hell, even Bush's hand-picked toady cabal for the 9/11 Commission gave him failing grades. Nobody noticed, but at least the truth is out there; it may be hidden down a rabbit hole, but it's out there.

24. 4 words on why Salazar should jump now. "Bill Clinton`s blow job."
A real president was impeached for getting a blow job. That no one should have known about. Except that our congress critters are better dick sniffers than they are at defending our constitution. And what it stands for. Bu$h has commited very serious crimes. And should be tried and sent to jail for them. What are Salazar and his cohorts waiting for? Bu$h`s screwing of our nation is not as bad as Clinton`s screwing an intern`s mouth? Jesus what a bunch of crooks. The whole lot of them.
Peace
