Relationship between India and U.S. begins to cool
http://feeds.bignewsnetwork.com/?sid=699c0c3bc75ea85f

India warned that its relations with the United States were 'at a crossroads' Wednesday over Congressional blockage of the proposed nuclear deal that had been agreed with the Bush administration in July.

'We have two clear choices before us, one that will maintain the status quo and the distance between our two democracies,' Indian foreign minister Shyam Saran told a meeting at Washington's Carnegie Endowment immediately before his talks at the State Department.

'The other is prepared to realize a genuine strategic partnership. Its realization could make Indo-U.S. ties into one of the principal relationships of the international system,' Saran said. 'I am confident that the positive view of our ties will prevail.'

2. Probably wont stop American companies from sending our jobs there
And it probably won't stop India from accepting those jobs. India is making money hand over fist from all the American companies who have outsourced there. No way is India going to jeopardize that. And no way is Corporate America going to allow it, either.

3. And don't forget all those Indians working here in the US. The last
two jobs I had, half were Indians. I got to work 2 months this year and 6 months last year, but all those Indians got to work the whole year.

4. That's the way the corporations want it
They get the Indians cheap because of their visa agreements; they keep Americans as part time workers so that they can't unionize effectively. Who wins? CEOs with multi-million dollar paychecks EACH year.

6. I was expecting this.
About 2 months ago, there was a UN vote on potentially tightening the noose on Iran. It was about nuclear capability.

Befor the vote, the U.S. was intensely pressuring all the countries to vote for censure. India was balking. The U.S. stepped up the pressure. One American called the Indian foreign minister "a retard" and "an idiot".

Can you imagine how this must have impressed the Indians? The article said "they were shocked", but they quickly calmed down.

The US does not care about diplomacy, or good relationships with countries. We're in it for the Short Haul.
