The problem with this is how can we be sure he will be independent? I know about Fitzgerald, but do you think they'd make the same mistake twice?

He'd appoint a toady who'll look just where he tells them to look and and wrap it up with a bullshit report. Nope, I don't trust anything about Gonzalez.

My guess is the congressional hearings are our best bet. IMO

5. This Patriot Act and Bush wire tapping worries me.

Ok, what if the Democrats modify the Patriot Act or bring charges against Bush and we actually do have another terrorist attack? The Republicans will be able to beat us into the ground claiming that if they still had those powers it could have been prevented. I would not put it past them to actually put a bomb somewhere themselves. If an attack actually happens they will use it just like they did for 911.
