FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (AP) -- A former National Institutes of Health employee was sentenced Friday to house arrest and probation after admitting she made a threat involving anthrax during a dispute with the Broward County property appraiser's office.
Michelle Ledgister, 43, was also fined $1,000 and has already paid more than $2,200 in restitution for Broward County's costs in responding with hazardous materials teams and investigators after the telephone threat was received July 26.
At a hearing Friday before U.S. District Judge James I. Cohn, a contrite Ledgister apologized for what her attorney called an impulsive act of anger.
"Not a day goes by that I don't feel shame and remorse for my conduct," Ledgister told the judge. "I'm terribly sorry for what I've done."
