San Diego Medical Marijuana Dispensaries Being Raided!
Sorry, mods, no media link yet.

But here is the notice from California NORML:

San Diego, Dec. 12th, 1:30 PM PST - Reports are that police are
raiding all of the medical cannabis dispensaries in San Diego.
(Some18 clubs are known in the city:
http://www.canorml.org/prop/cbclist.html#sd). The raids are being
conducted by local LEOs, but DEA agents are also reported to be
involved.

1. Last week, the county Board of Supervisors voted to challenge
California's medical marijuana law in federal court.

But this is apparently going on in the city, which has been favorable to the dispensaries.

The DEA involvement is ominous, but not surprising.

4. I bet it was some kind of 'multi-jurisdictional drug task force'
I covered these for an alternative publication in the 1980's. They were created during the Great Drug War (btw, did we ever win that one?).

The idea is that 'selected' officers from local police departments would receive special federal training (and funding), and be under the command of the federal government (aka DEA) for raids like these. There was something of a uproar (a small one, anyway) about them here in Madison in the late 1980's, because the mayor didn't like the fact that some of his cops were not actually working for him anymore (the police chief wasn't thrilled about it either). They got a lot more money (and a lot cooler equipment) than the rest of the local force, too.

This raid is just the sort of thing they were designed for, so I wouldn't be at all surprised if these task forces made up the local LEO portion of these actions.

5. Americans for Safe Access (www.safeaccessnow.org) reports:
ASA office has received reports that seven dispensaries have been raided in
total. So far no arrests. Agents have just come in and taken medicine and
records.

One dispensary claims warrant was signed by local judge.

We will keep you posted.

6. How is this consistent with medical privacy,
for police to take all the records?

8. He's fighting it tooth and nail. He has the resources to do that.
Unlike most of the more than 1.5 million Americans arrested on drug charges last year. And Rush hasn't even been arrested yet.

As much as loathe Limbaugh and would love to see him take a fall, I hope it's not over his personal drug habits.

9. And
one more example of the government waging war against the will of the people. Is this America?

10. Under what authority
are the local police involved in this?

If the DEA wants to raid, fine, but don't do their job for them. Some CA citizens need to talk to their local reps.
