Bush Says Iraq's Path to Democracy Like That of U.S. (Update3)
Dec. 12 (Bloomberg) -- President George W. Bush compared the development of democracy in Iraq to the founding of the U.S. at the constitutional convention in Philadelphia.

The establishment of a democratic government in the U.S. was marked by tension, ``disorder and upheaval,'' Bush said today in a speech in Philadelphia. ``No nation in history has made the transition to a free society without facing challenges, setbacks and false starts.''

...

Asked why he and other members of his administration continue to make links between Iraq and the Sept. 11 attacks, Bush said the terrorist strikes in the U.S. ``changed my outlook on foreign policy'' to confront threats immediately.

``Saddam Hussein was a threat,'' Bush said. ``The 9-11 attacks accentuated that threat as far as I'm concerned.''

Who´s to decide if they really were a threat?

All those dead Americans and Iraqis because of a white man´s burden.

7. A revolutionary war, to fight us off.
That sounds fairly accurate.

After that, they will get rigged voting, conservative judicial system, and raping of their environment.

Good luck, Iraq.

9. I Know they Bitch About a Lack of Conservatives in Academia
but I guess I really had some lousy American History teachers. I completely missed that part where France came in and "shocked and awed" us. I missed the part where they bombed the shit out of our cities just to save them.

Then I missed the part where the French set-up a "puppet provisional government", helped us draft our Constitution, hold elections, and establish a congress.

I also don't recall seeing anything about all the "meat pyramids" the French were making with us citizens, or when they wrapped metal keys around our nuts and attached them to kites during a thunderstorm (props to Ben Franklin for thinking up that little torture technique).

I guess there really is a good reason KKKonservatives don't teach. I mean, if they're this "blanking" stupid.

10. An interesting alternate history
If King George had fostered democracy in America, how great the result would have been. Had he controlled the press bombed insurgent homes, used Indians to torture and terrorize the population, catered to the rich landowners, etc. What a wonderful analogy it might have been. The occupying British forces never would have left. Our new flag would be prettier with the Union Jack in the corner, the British would have quickly wrote our Constitution.

Or maybe the real Revolutionary War history is not so unlike our own occupation of Iraq?

12. No its not! We wanted to be free from Britain, we made the decision
to fight for our freedoms. The Iraqi's have no choice, we decided that for them. Now they just want to end this whole mess and live in peace. What now he sees himself as a freedom fighter. Pleaseeeee, make him go away.

13. I'm always amazed that no matter how stupid anything this guy comes
up with, he can top himself if you just wait a day or so.

I would think that this would squelch any ideas that this guy really got through grade school on his smarts. Forget college. That's so way beyond his thought capacity that it's funny to even consider.
