Bomb explodes in Athens' main square

ATHENS, Greece, Dec. 12 (UPI) -- A bomb exploded in Athens' main square near the Finance Ministry Monday morning, causing damage to buildings and cars but no casualties.

The explosion occurred at about 6 a.m. in Syntagma Square, either in or just outside the main post office, the BBC reported. Police said the bomb was made from several gas canisters.

State television reported that a Greek daily newspaper had received an anonymous bomb warning about 30 minutes before the explosion. Television showed images of damaged cars, cafes and shops.
