Workers Rally Against Delphi Wage Cuts
Thousands of people rallied in southwest Ohio and central Indiana against steep wage cuts proposed by auto parts manufacturer Delphi Corp., which has filed for bankruptcy protection.

Workers say the proposed cuts -- from $27 an hour to between $10 and $12.50 -- are unfair, especially as Delphi has given bonuses to managers and other executives. United Auto Workers officials have said a strike against Delphi appears increasingly likely.

At least 2,000 people rallied Saturday in Ohio, where Delphi has 13,000 workers.

1. Most likley management response to this
is to declare bankruptsy and then get the wages slashed and the pension eliminated.

2. They have already
filed bankruptcy and are trying to use the courts to force wage and other concessions from the unions.

In the meantime they are also giving big bonus packages to managers and supervisors to "keep them on-board" while the company climbs out of bankruptcy. Never-mind that these are the same managers that mismanaged the company into bankruptcy in the first place.

3. I want to know who they voted for first,
before I decide whether or not to have sympathy. If they voted Bush, than this is their just punishment.

4. I agree. Although sometimes until
people get kicked in the teeth like this they won't wake up from the GOP coma they were in. Sad but true.

5. It's likely that the numbers
who voted D and R are about equal since the results of the last elections have been very close, even in so-called red states like Ohio.

Does that mean that your only for wage cuts for the 50% of Delphi workers that voted for Bush and not for the Kerry voters or should Kerry supporters be punished because they happen to work with Bush supporters?
