Saddam refuses to appear at his trial
BAGHDAD, Iraq - Saddam Hussein’s trial was delayed Wednesday after the ousted president refused to attend the session, court officials said. Defense lawyers huddled with the judges in hopes of resolving the latest test of wills in the often-unruly trial.

At the end of the Tuesday session, the judges agreed over defense objections to meet again the following day. Saddam shouted that “I will not come to an unjust court! Go to hell!”

2. WTF ??
I wasn't aware that defendants had the right to refuse to appear in court! What are leg chains and handcuffs and big macho bailiffs for, then??

4. I thought the defendant had a choice
of whether to watch or not.

No reason the trial couldn't go on and he could watch it on tv from his cell.

Give him a cellphone so he could call his lawyer if he wants something added.

5. I wonder if he'll refuse to appear at his execution, too.
Regardless, he'll ultimately end up with what he deserves.

6. Oh boy
It will be a sight to behold when this laughable process is complete and Saddam is executed.

Those who wish him executed, of course, probably won't be entirely happy with the results, but what has stopped them from stumbling ass-over-teakettle into their previous mistakes and catastrophes of this war? Nothing. That's what.

Then, of course, the worldwide dissemination of the Uday and Kusay mangle-shots was supposed to end the insurgency....way back in September 2003...

How much bullshit can the right wing actually eat from its leaders?

7. I hope Bush is watching. He might pick up some pointers for
his war crimes trial at the Hague.
