Republicans cut short hearing on redistricting plane search (Tx)
Over angry protests from Democrats, Republicans cut short the third hearing Wednesday about the use of federal agencies to look for a state lawmakers? plane in a Texas redistricting dispute last May.

Democrats wanted to make statements in the hearing, but Rep. Chris Cox, R-Utah, used his power as chairman of the Select Committee on Homeland Security to limit debate. He said he wanted members to be able to participate in House debate on a bioterrorism bill.

Democrats said details of the investigations are proving too embarrassing for Republicans.

"To the Republican majority, this is a matter they would rather have swept under the rug and no one hear about," said Rep. Jim Turner, the ranking Democrat on the Homeland Security committee.

2. No great surprise there...
The 'pukes are always good at arse-covering for their own. Tom "The Hammer" Delay must have really shaken some trees if they're so concerned that they won't even allow on-the-record statements.

3. The Republicans
are going to have to deal with this. People are pissed off. You cannot use federal resources for partisan politics. This will be back to the front and center.
