Alleged secret CIA flights also went to Canary Islands

Madrid - Private flights on which the U.S. Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) is suspected of transporting Islamist terror suspects landed on Spain's Canary and Balearic Islands, the daily El Pais reported Wednesday.

It had earlier been reported that suspicious flights landed in Palma, capital of the Balearic Majorca, 10 times between January 2004 and January 2005.

El Pais said such flights also landed at least four times on the Canary island of Tenerife between March 2004 and last May, and once on the Balearic island of Ibiza.

Destinations of the flights making stopovers on the islands ranged from Macedonia and Washington to Libya and Morocco.
