Brawl Erupts in Ukrainian Parliament
Brawl Erupts in Ukrainian Parliament

Wednesday November 16, 2005 3:01 AM

KIEV, Ukraine (AP) - Legislative debate on Ukraine's entry into the World Trade Organization ended in a brawl Tuesday as Economics Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk tried to speak in support of the proposal.

Parliament managed to pass one of a series of bills needed for Ukraine's entry before Communists who oppose the move and pro-government lawmakers began shoving each other and fighting.

Communists then sounded loud sirens to drown out the debate, prompting the 450-member chamber to recess.

The skirmishing was the second time that violence has broken out during deliberations over the WTO legislation. Communists and pro-government lawmakers also brawled in July.

2. A Ukranian friend of mine visited her home country last month...
and said that things are unbearably bad there. Economic conditions have gotten so bad that poverty is rampant everywhere but among a few very well to do Russian styled oligarchs. Moreover, the 'economic freedom' enjoyed by business have left half of the food inedible, as there are few government regulations hawking on behalf of the public good.

It's a Libertarian paradise.

stage managed and branded revolutions sponsored by the IRI-NED. Inedible food- More gifts from the Free Traders?

Now we'll probably hear from the savage capitalists that it takes time for the market to make the necessary adjustments, as they keep telling the Ukrainians how much the stones resemble bread so they must BE bread.

4. My friend is one of those 'free traders' who is turning a political corner
...after seeing the reality of 'free markets' on former soviet republics.

All that greed is good bullshit sounds great in theory, but it's nasty, mean and relentlessly cruel in practice.
