Iraq: Resistance Ready To Talk -- But Only With The U.S.
http://www.rferl.org/featuresarticle/2005/11/f3f3732b-f37f-46f0-842c-6655772a0eaa.html

The self-described spokesperson for the Iraqi resistance, Ayham al-Samarra'i, told reporters in Baghdad over on 12 November that seven Iraqi resistance groups are ready to enter into dialogue with the United States in a bid to end the violence in Iraq. But resistance groups will not enter into talks with the Iraqi government, which has labeled them terrorist groups, he said. Al-Samarra'i is the head of the Independent Iraqis Grouping, and served as electricity minister in the interim government.

The groups' conditions for entering into talks are not likely to garner a positive reaction from the United States. According to a statement issued minutes before al-Samarra'i's 12 November press briefing, resistance groups have demanded an end to all military operations and the release of detainees; the withdrawal of foreign forces from Iraqi cities, and the establishment of a timetable for the withdrawal for multinational forces from Iraq.

Another problematic issue is the refusal by the resistance to lay down their arms. The resistance "will continue to keep its weapons until peace and accord are established in the country," al-Samarra'i told Al-Arabiyah television on 12 November.

8. More than that
The Shiite split guaranteeing a civil war is something only moderated by the Americans the Sunnis are killing. No one is in a position to bargain into a another convenient menage a trois but this looks like a relatively less crazy way to escape a crazier situation with serious talks here about pulling out underway.

This might even have been desirable for the Mayberry Macchiavellis and might have been attempted a while ago. Today they are completely whacked out, even in playing up the Sunnis as the next puppets for Iran while whacking the Baathists in Syria. I wouldn't be surprised if there was some illogical reason to invade Israel and push the useless confusion to the max. Bush policy there only exists with the blinders on, plugging through the center of the china shop.

4. Yeah, other countries might ask too many awkward questions ...
... like "How much ammo did you get from the unguarded dumps?"
and "If *you* didn't cut any hostage throats, who did?"

7. My bullshit meter is running wild on this one...
Haven't you all noticed in the last 2 years, someone is paraded out periodically to "negotiate" to "end the violence"? Then nothing happens other then the MSM grabbing hold of the story with both hands and screaming that the rebels want to surrender? Then the story quietly disappears.

Another "iraqi" on the payroll, just like the suicide bomber that still had the munitions strapped on to her for the interview.

If she was the real mccoy, do you honestly, really, do you honestly believe that the U.S. Army would allow her to give interviews? Come on, I may have fallen off the turnip truck, but it wasn't yesterday.

We are now in the "look we are making a difference" period of morons* assault on trying to convince the public that things aren't really as fucked up and are really improving over there, just to pump up his plummeting poll numbers.

1)woman captured after her suicide bombs doesn't go off, then grants interviews

2)an iraqi that claims he represents the insurgents, want to talk peace

3)Medics run to aid people who were tortured.

come on folks.

This is a new tactic, not huge stories, not fear with terror threats, not elevated color code HLS levels, the little story bullshit. These are the ones to really watch out for. These are the ones that permeate the collective consciousness of the U.S.

Be aware folks, this is a new and scary period.
