CIA allegedly hid evidence of detainee torture - report

WASHINGTON (AFX) - CIA interrogators apparently tried to cover up the death of an Iraqi 'ghost detainee' who died while being interrogated at Abu Ghraib prison, Time magazine reported today, after obtaining hundreds of pages of documents, including an autopsy report, about the case.

The death of secret detainee Manadel al-Jamadi was ruled a homicide in a Defense Department autopsy, Time reported, adding that documents it recently obtained included photographs of his battered body, which had been kept on ice to keep it from decomposing, apparently to conceal the circumstances of his death.

The details about his death emerge as US officials continue to debate congressional legislation to ban torture of foreign detainees by US troops overseas, and efforts by the George W. Bush administration to obtain an exemption for the CIA from any future torture ban.

...

After some 90 minutes of interrogation by CIA officials, he died of 'blunt force injuries' and 'asphyxiation', according to the autopsy documents obtained by Time.

3. Where's the rest of the Abu Ghraib photos?
Didn't our gov't get "one to keep, one to share"?

They've been stalling on the release of additional photos for a LONG time now.

4. Who's leaking this?
This happened 2 years ago...and only now the story is coming to light. Does someone have a guilty consience, is someone looking to destroy the Bush administration, or is it a combination of the two.

6. Anything leaking out of the CIA would damage...

any administration. There's a reason why they classify and overclassify stuff - it's ugly.

But yea, maybe the CIA is taking their toll on the White House - the CIA was the wipping boy of the WMD intel 'failure'.

7. What I find odd a about this story is...
if the guy was a ghost detainee at a ghost prison and he died, why suddenly do we know about this?
Meaning, if the CIA wanted to get rid of someone, they would just get rid of them, make them disappear.
They have been so unethical in the past, why are they suddenly having an issue with their conscious?

Needless to say, there is something weird about this whole thing to begin with, but this just struck me as odd.

Honestly, when did the CIA ever give a shit about public opinion. They could have buried this guy someplace out of the way, made it look like some "terrorist" did it, then scrub the records.

I'm certainly not defending them, but it just looks to me, like everything with this "war on terror" is so completely fucked up, lied about or covered up. And the people doing this things are completely incompetent. I guess that's good for the American public, because otherwise, we would never hear a thing about any of this.

colossal racist failure*
