DNC: Mehlman Was Right: Americans Ready For Change

WASHINGTON, Nov. 13 /U.S. Newswire/ -- Today, on NBC's Meet the Press, Republican National Committee Chairman Ken Mehlman made the following remark:

"What the American people want in my judging is the same thing they wanted in 2004 and 2002, when we as the incumbents won, because we were seen as agents of change. And the Democrats were seen as agents of the status quo. What they want is change, and they want change because too often the government hasn't served their needs."

Statement of DNC Communications Director Karen Finney:

"The American people do want change because the truth is they've been shortchanged by the Washington Republican agenda of corruption, cronyism and incompetence. Republicans in Washington have forgotten that they are here to serve the American people, not line their pockets and cater to the special interests. Americans overwhelmingly realize that what the Republicans are offering is a divided America, not a better America. They are tired of the divisiveness, the distractions and the distortions. They are tired of the culture of corruption that Republicans have brought to Washington, D.C. They are tired of a White House that refuses to be honest about important questions of national security, and they are tired of a Republican Congress that steadfastly refuses to hold President Bush's administration accountable and that simply ignores Americans' true priorities of real national security, jobs, healthcare and education. And, as we saw in this week's elections, Americans are tired of the Bush-Rove politics of division.

"Democrats believe that the American people deserve better. Americans believe that they deserve the truth and that the truth will make our country safer and stronger. By refusing to tell the truth, Republicans in Washington the have made our country weaker. Democrats believe that by telling the truth and uniting our country, we can do better."

1. Good slam back at a weak meme. At what point after 12 years..
of House control, 4-6 years of Senate control, and 5 years of WH control, DO you become the status quo?

2. The AMerican People voted to
have Al Gore in 2000 and they got stuck with a lyin' little chimpanzee who doubles as a sociopath.

And Karen Finney is right.. "Republicans in Washington have forgotten that they are here to serve the American people, not line their pockets and cater to the special interests. Americans overwhelmingly realize that what the Republicans are offering is a divided America, not a better America. They are tired of the divisiveness, the distractions and the distortions. They are tired of the culture of corruption that Republicans have brought to Washington, D.C."

4. Mehlman reminds me of the old war joke
where the men had been in the field for too long and the Sgt lines them up and says, "Today my boys we are all going to get a CHANGE of Underwear.."

The Troops are all abuzz, a much needed thing..

So the Sgt Continues, "Staniskowski? YOU Change with Brooks, Brooks, YOU Change with Smith.." etc :)

Yeah, we want change alright - we'd like to see a NEW set of CRIMINALS on TRIAL IN THE HAGUE. How about Bush in a nice little room in the Hague with a single window up very high to remind him that there IS a sun and sky out there still, but he'll never see it again - sitting on a straw mat on Suicide Watch.

Cheney could be working at a McDonalds, forced to microwave older burgers for the afternoon Rush..

Rove could be sent to Iraq, stripped naked and forced to walk the streets of Fallujah during the day, with a sandwich board that says, "THIS IS MY WAR - I LIED THE US INTO IT - PLEASE FEEL FREE TO USE THE TARGET PAINTED ON THE BACK OF THIS SIGN."

At Night he could bury the dead with a SPOON for a shovel all night.

Yeah, I could think of a LOT of changes I'd like to see - and TEX, I'm with you a 100% on the "When do THEY actually accept the Status Quo position?"

They're Like Bart Simpson - "Don't look at ME, *I* didn't do it.." or "It was Broken when I GOT HERE.."
