Rice Sees Long Road to Mideast Democracy
JERUSALEM - Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice said Sunday the Bush administration is under no illusion that democratic change in the Middle East will be either swift or easy.

"We are not naive about the pace or the difficulty of democratic change," Rice said in remarks prepared for delivery during a memorial forum honoring slain Israeli Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin.

Even so, she said, "we know that the longing for democratic change is deep and urgently felt."

Rice spoke a day after part of the White House democracy agenda ran into trouble. An international conference on democracy in the Middle East ended without a formal agreement because Egypt threw up last-minute road blocks.

1. Does she wonder why she has to wear a bullet-proof vest in Iraq
so long after the initial invasion? She no longer has the excuse that it's Muslims from other countries coming over the Iraq border to shoot at our soldiers since it was Iraqis coming over the Jordanian border to massacre Jordanians.

2. You made it an even longer road, you murderous bitch.
Don't worry Condi. In less than three years you can re-dedicate your oil tanker and start reaping the benefits of your "service" to our country.

3. We "know" they're longing for democratic change
Just like we "knew" that Iraq had WMDs. Just like we "knew" that Saddam was in bed with al-Qaeda. Just like we "knew" that the Iraqi people would be tossing flower petals and candy at the "liberating" troops. Just like...

Sure, babe. Whatever. :eyes:

6. why do they have to keep reporting the same crap over and over
the argument never changes, it is the same crap that has no back up evidence or some intelligent thought behind it.

10. Long Road in American Terms ...
... is five years instead of two weeks. Rice does not understand what a Long Road is. We're talking 50 years or more.

11. Oh, I thought she was talking about looking in a mirror
the old saying, "Her face looks like Ten Miles of Bad Road.." came to mind..

French kissed by a Mac Truck? Hit with an Ugly stick?

I can imagine her girlfriends trying to get her blind dates in college, "Well, she looks like she's been hit in the face with a bag of nickels, but WAIT UNTIL YOU SEE HER CAR!" :)

WHat hair Molding did she utilize today? I swear her hair is like one of those guests on any claymation show, Gumby and Pokey, David and Goliath, you name it..

12. A long hard road indeed
The prople of the world are dissilusioned enought with democracies everywhere, but when they see what this once great democracy has come to they know that the experiment has failed. Only seeing Rice and the rest of the gang behind bars could restore their hope now.
