Bird flu kills Vietnamese man, tests show: media
http://abcnews.go.com/International/wireStory?id=1290391

Nov 7, 2005 — HANOI (Reuters) - Test results showed bird flu killed a 35-year-old Vietnamese man, the first victim of a new outbreak of the virus in poultry in the Southeast Asian country, state media said on Tuesday.

"This is the first death since the start of this year's epidemic season," Deputy Health Minister Trinh Quan Huan was quoted by the Tien Phong newspaper as saying of the man who died late last month in Hanoi.

1. One death from bird flu out of how many infected ?
They don't say yet our gov't has ordered up a pre-emptive war against
bird flu at a cost of 7.1 billion dollars and a seperate one billion
dollars to dumsfeld and his company for useless bird flu vaccines I
think its called TAMIFLU

2. Here's a BBC documentary everyone needs to watch.

RealPlayer Video (narrowband for all computers):

I watched this documentary TWICE last night a few hours after it played on the network in Britain. I never took this topic seriously until last night. And I believe every elected official in the U.S. needs to see this ASAP.

BBC News makes the Bush Administration's HHS secretary look like a fool once again by juxtaposing his denial of the problem with remarks from the director of the UN WHO and a panel of experts. And although I have a lot of problems with Dumbsfeld and his involvement with Tamiflu, after watching the program, I believe that should not interfere with our developing a great deal of respect for this virus and its killing power.

4. thanks for the video..later I will watch
I have dial-up,do you think it will take very long to load? also I
don't take the next mass killer lightly {any virus}hell they're 6
billion people on the planet I can see it happening but what I ask?
Bird flu has infected 100 or more people overseas how many died? Do
humans {some} have natural anti-bodies? Its that damn rumsfeld I curse
him for allowing people to believe Tamiflu is a vaccine/cure when in
fact it might take a day off the miserable conditions of the flu.

7. You shouldn't have much trouble watching on a modem
connection. It's only a 35K/sec stream.

3. I misread the topic line as media killed man, not bird flu
I've always been a skeptic and cynical, and I strongly believe that something small will kill a whole bunch of us. Even if we were prepared. It is only a matter of time. A family member who lives in Europe finally convinced me that I should lay aside my instinctual distrust of everything this administration does and says and take a look at this bird flu. It may be serious.

On the other hand, there is also a whole bunch of other stuff to work on, not to focus exclusively on 1 disaster, but realize that we need to prepare, each of us, ourselves, to be on our own. We will each die. Everyone of us. In the meantime, don't rely on the gvt to take care of you. Prepare to live, prepare to die.

ps, I am just out of the bath, soaking and drinking brandy so waxing poetic. sorry.

5. I have no doubt that a bug will kill a bunch of us sooner or later.
Just by observing how quickly normal colds and flu pass through schools, restaurants, public places.

I'm fighting a cold that passed through my coworkers like shit through a goose. If that virus ever mutates to human to human transmission, life is gonna suck. The short version. I hope we are ready to fight it off.
