KKK, opponents demonstrate over gay marriage ban vote
Klan vastly outnumbered by hundreds of opponents
AUSTIN, Texas (AP) | Nov 5, 9:59 PM

A showdown over a proposed state constitutional ban of same-sex marriage pitted a small Ku Klux Klan group Saturday against a massive rally by opponents. <snip>

An estimated 3,000 protesters showed up during the Klan event, said Austin Police Department spokeswoman Toni Chovanetz. Two people were arrested. One was carrying a club and causing a disturbance, and another was arrested on outstanding warrants, Chovanetz said.

The city blocked off several streets to keep members of the public at least a block away from the Klan in all directions. A contingent of 200 police officers — some wearing riot gear and at least one toting a rifle — stood along police barricades and patrolled the area.

Many anti-Klan demonstrators carried yellow daisies, sang peace songs and chanted anti-Klan slogans. Some held banners or signs that said, "Vote Against Bigotry," "Vote Against the Klan" and "Killers, Kowards, Kooks Go Away." <snip>

3. It must be a good year for the Klan
-America supports bigotry
-The POTUS sat by and watched millions of black people drown in New Orleans.
-The POTUS is also a pro torture fascsit that they've been longing for since the civil war.
It would normally piss me off but all I can feel is sadness.

5. The Klan is the rimshot of any conservative success.
All they want is a hug from George W., out under the lights for once. Just a simple thank-you for all their hard work "energizing the base."

13. Millions did not drown in NO.
Perhaps thousands died. The cover up will keep the numbers from us. Some died by drowning but I suspect most died from exposure, disease, or lack of proper medical supplies and care.

Millions were neglected and left to fend for themselves while Brownie did a heck of job rolling up his fashionable sleeves.

FEMA abdicated its leadership role in the response and tried to push blame back on local authorities and government. But lets not play the blame game.

The devastaed areas still suffer from lack of leadership, funding and support from federal agencies. The rich corporations that are flush with tax cut cash are no where to be seen.

The vultures are circling NO.

11. I never thought I'd agree with "Hooray" for them...
but in this case, yes. Voting for the banning of gay marriage puts you in bed with the Klan...which sounds like the same thing they're trying to ban.

10. I don't know about everywhere...
but it isn't "indecent exposure" unless the genitals are exposed. So breasts and buttocks are okay, but they can get you charged with something else, like "causing a disturbance" (can't think of the right words right now).

12. I think the citizens should moon Bush/Cheney
when ever they show up. No threatening signs, just bare bums, to show them what we think of them. I would call the movement "Moon across America."

14. Well now its a solid fact
The KKK and the GOP are on the same side on almost every issue. They are indistinguishable to me.
