US war drill against Iran in February
The US defence department during a classified briefing to the senate armed forces committee said Iran is laying powerful underwater and surface water mines in the Strait of Hormuz but within its own territory.

The Pentagon suspects it is an offensive strategy, and Iran is training its forces to lay mines that could play havoc in a sea war.

The US war drill in the Gulf of Oman could take place around February 2006 and there is a possibility that some Nato members may send their warships and troops to join.

Alongwith the US, Oman, Qatar, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, UAE and Yemen will participate, while Britain, The Netherlands, Spain and Italy have expressed a desire for such a war drill.

2. Attention Walmart shoppers! Possible draft on isle three.
OK, that wasn't funny. And the remark about only having 45 shopping days before Christmas wasn't going to be any better.

And to top it off, in February you can expect a situation for a convenient accident with Iran.

Could we get some help over here! Please? Anybody? The people in the White House aren't listening.

5. And $500 billion a year is not offensive
Iran is laying powerful underwater and surface water mines in the Strait of Hormuz but within its own territory.

The Pentagon suspects it is an offensive strategy

Yeah, right you goofy lying bastards. And the $500 billion military budget has no offensive component. We had to pull out UN investigators so we could attack when we had found NO weapons and when Saddam offered to leave we said we would attack anyway. Iraq was surrounded by the largest military budget in the world, ten times over second place, starved for 10 years with no air force or navy, and bombed illegally for 10 months on the premise they might attack us. Now would you say that is a billion dollar a day defense against a billion a year offense or a billion a day offense against a billion a year defense. Of course now it is closer to $1.4 billion a day offense.

And I am sure that the goody goody US does not fly over Iranian airspace hoping for an excuse.

How is that premptive nuclear strike policy coming along anyhow?

If I remember correctly, doesn't the Iranian Oil Bourse begin trading in March 06? I don't think it is about the mines, it is about money and oil.

Edit: link provided. I'm not sure about March, but 2006 is the year.

12. Ding-ding-ding!! You win!! Bingo! It's the Iranian Oil Bourse, in March
Edited on Sun Nov-06-05 01:59 PM by loudsue
That's when the Bourse is set to open, and to start trading oil contracts in Euros.

We're definitely going to war with Iran BEFORE they are allowed to start the Oil Bourse (like an oil "stock market") because it will benefit countries BESIDES the United States. Anybody that doesn't know this, has not been paying attention.

:hi: Thank you for bringing this up, Theduckno2! There has to be SOME way that protesters start getting in the streets over the pending war with Iran, set to begin before Iran can start the bourse. We have to pre-emptively notify the horribly uninformed citizens of this nation as to what the REAL neocon agenda is on this. More and more of our young men & women in uniform are going to be sent to kill and maim, and BE killed and maimed, for yet another war.

I'm having trouble seeing how there will be enough troops to do this without reinstating the draft, but I have a bad feeling about it. If Dumsfeld thinks he's going to do a nuke'em thing, and forego the ground troops, yet again, he's sadly mistaken.

And Israeli neocons (the Likud party) are probably going to be the arm of the U.S. government that starts the fireworks. There will, of course, have to be YET ANOTHER "pearl harbor type event" that will try to rally Americans behind YET ANOTHER war. So, hold onto your hats. This time, however, it may be that Israel has agreed to take the hit on their own soil, in order to make the war happen.

These neocon globalists are SO FUCKING TRANSPARENT! At least, to those of us who have studied them for so long. I only wish we had a free press in this country, to notify the sleeping masses. That's why I say we probably need to get protesters out into the streets. That's one of the main ways that we've been able to spread the word.

16. Thanks for the intelligent discussion and kind words.
Your opinion on the Israelis seems to be spot on, evidenced by the periodic Israeli announcements breathlessly stating that they believe the Iranians to be 6 months away from nuclear capability (?).

I agree that people need to be aware of the Iranian Oil Bourse, especially DUers.

How can laying mines possibly be considered offensive strategy? Especially in their own waters... Come on people wake up the war mongers are on the march again...

13. A foreign power has warships just offshore, and troops in a nearby country
that it invaded. And laying mines in Iran's own territorial waters is called an offensive maneuver?

The term Orwellian hardly seems to do justice to this description.
