MAR DEL PLATA, Argentina - A crowd of 10,000 people chanting "Get out Bush!" swarmed the streets of this Argentine resort Friday, hours before the hemisphere's leaders sat down to debate free trade, immigration and job creation at the fourth Summit of the Americas.

Before dawn, thousands greeted a train bringing the last group of protesters from Buenos Aires, including Bolivian presidential hopeful Evo Morales and soccer great Diego Maradona, who donned a T-shirt accusing President Bush of war crimes.

Chanting "Fascist Bush! You are the terrorist!" the protesters hung from the engine and moved up the sides of the train, trying to shake hands with those inside.

Later, they took to the streets, heading toward a stadium where Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez was scheduled to make a speech before joining the summit. Chavez arrived early Friday, saying he was "inspired" by the protesters.

2. look-it, poor brown people
doing what americans should be doing. I'm embarrassed over this country's inability to quash the neocon lies. Only 36% approval for chimpy and he's still got his hand on the switch to beat all switches. Now he's reported to be unstable, a loose cannon ready to go off. * must go and all those he rode into power with. The GOP will be in hurts for some time to come because of the ugliness of this administration. For heavens sake shrub should still be in prison for his refusal to finish his military service. He is still AWOL. He is now a deserter. But our 36% trumps the rest of the world. * has ruined the US, maybe irreparably.

Liar liar pants on fire.

14. US citizen needs
an easier way to demonstrate and make it hurt!
Maybe an automobile protest. Fill up parking lot at a wall mart. Fill the main street of every town behind one with dead battery or empty gas tank. Pull out lawn chairs and have a "tailgate party!
Nearly everyone has been in a traffic jam at some time in their life, so why not make use of them and have a good time!
Maybe plan turnouts at large campgrounds for a weekend of demonstrations and get local media on it.
Democrats better get off the backside and act. One indictment of one scapegoat isn't going to slow this bunch from destruction of this nation. Push all democrat office holders to DO SOMETHING, ANYTHING! If you can't rest easy because you see so much destruction of your life, those you voted for need to know you won't help them if they won't help Americans instead of just themselves!

Anti-Bush protests grow in Argentina
Fri Nov 4, 2005 1:07 PM ET

By Mary Milliken and Kevin Gray
MAR DEL PLATA, Argentina (Reuters) - Tens of thousands of marchers protested on Friday against U.S. President George W. Bush and his free-trade push, as leaders from the Americas gathered in an Argentine resort for a contentious debate on improving Latin America's economy.

A mixed bag of protesters -- from Bolivian Indian women in traditional bowler hats to mothers of Argentine "dirty-war" victims -- filled 15 city blocks carrying signs with "Fuera Bush" (Get out Bush) and flags with the face of Argentine revolutionary Che Guevara.

About 7,500 police kept a heavy guard at the meeting site and in the city center, but paid little attention to the protesters, who were 4 miles away.

Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez, the leftist leader who opposes Bush's economic model, prepared to take the protesters' message inside the summit meeting room. He vowed to bury the stalled Free Trade Area of the Americas, or FTAA.

31. Update: Thousands protest Bush in Argentina
MAR DEL PLATA, Argentina (Reuters) - Anti-U.S. demonstrations at the Americas Summit turned violent on Friday as protesters set fire to a bank, looted stores and battled riot police blocks from a luxury hotel where U.S. President George W. Bush met with regional leaders.

The violence came hours after tens of thousands of demonstrators took to the streets shouting "Get out Bush!" in a peaceful protest against the U.S. leader, who is unpopular among many Latin Americans who oppose the Iraq war and his push for a regional free trade deal.

But as the leaders' summit opened, several hundred protesters shattered storefronts and fought pitched street battles with riot police, who responded by firing tear gas and rubber bullets.

Masked protesters torched an Argentine bank branch and an office for Argentine telecommunications company Telefonica, hurling Molotov cocktails before hauling off computers and office furniture. Interior Minister Anibal Fernandez said at least 64 people were arrested.

The two-day meeting of Western Hemisphere leaders is expected to be a showdown over differing views on free trade between the American president and Venezuelan leader Hugo Chavez.
