WASHINGTON - Two environmental groups are running a TV advertisement in Minnesota targeting Sen. Norm Coleman, urging the Minnesota Republican to vote against a budget bill that includes a provision allowing drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge.
Coleman has consistently voted against drilling in ANWR, honoring his 2002 campaign pledge, but has said he might vote for a budget bill that authorizes it. He's argued that he needs to weigh the totality of the budget bill in his decision.

Coleman spokeswoman Andrea Wuebker declined to comment specifically on the commercial but said of the budget vote, "He's going to weigh the pros and cons as to how it relates to Minnesota."
In a conference call with reporters last month, Coleman called environmentalists "a little self-centered" for arguing that the provision should take precedence over everything else in the budget.
