Hate from the heartland
Hundreds of Long Islanders stood outside Mepham High School yesterday to blast a handful of out-of-town picketers who said teaching tolerance of gays led to the football hazing incident that has rocked the school.
The picketers - eight family members from a church in Topeka, Kan., gathered on the sidewalk in front of the Bellmore school at 7 a.m. waving anti-gay signs, including one that read "God Hates Fags."

"When you teach children that it's okay to indulge in any kind of sex act that they like ... that it's okay to be gay, it is inevitable that they will end up being violent and doing things that they shouldn't," said Margie Phelps, who protested with a handful of relatives.

1. Screw those mo fo's
I cannot believe it. When I saw the picture of the children holding those signs, I couldn't believe it.

Now I understand when Moore says we are creating a society of violence and hate.

Violence and hate passing through the generations.

5. Welll let me give you a link
to some other cute and wonderful photos from our past...

http://www.centralhigh57.org/The_Little_Rock_Nine.html#LR9

There are soem photos, but the point I am trying to make is that
this is not the first time we see pictures like that

Central High in Little Rock Arkansas was just as bad... just
replace well fagot for negro... (mods using the terms for
instruction, I know how bad they are both of them) and you will
get a pretty good idea of what those nine kids faced.

Yes it took the 101st, it took the US Marshalls and yes
the school was integrated.

I might add this was but the first battle in a long war, and in
some respects it still goes on in certain areas of the country.

2. This is the same bunch
harrassing Casper, WY to put up that horrid 'monument' ..

“Our message is a message of God’s hate, not human hate,” said Marge Phelps, the reverend’s wife, also of the Westboro, Kan., Baptist Church. “And the concept of God’s hate is found in the Bible. And all it means is that people are going to go to hell if they disobey God.”

Can a judge commit these people for a psych evaluation?

A Religion of HATE?..exactly what the world needs now ..

3. This so-called "Church" is little more than...
Mr. Fred Phelps and his immediate family (At least one of whom, after separating himself from his daddy, has denounced him) and they make up most of the members of the "Westboro Baptist Church".

This is an example of the worst that religion can do to folks. In my opinion, the best explanation for this mans actions are that Phelps is little more than a self-hating closet gay, himself.

6. Phelps Serves As A Shining Example
I am cynical enough to hope that Phelps and Co. create quite an impression in Blue State territory. Fred Phelps and his flock serve as a shining example of the sort of political thought so very closely associated with the Religious Right--self-righteousness, obsession with others' sexuality, bigotry--that at least some of his outrages will splatter on both Religious Right Republicans as well as other Republicans that coddle them.

During the Vietnam era, right-wingers were quick to draw lines connecting the New Left and left-liberals in the Democratic Party, using similarities of rhetoric, dress, and political positions. These days the ties between the likes of Fred Phelps and the Religious Right faction are stronger than the ties between left-wing Democrats and Marxist New Leftists ever were, and even more noticable to those without a Faux News filter or a Bush White House spin artiste frantically trying to run interference.

Outraged bystanders seeing Phelp's posters can't help but think of similarities between Phelps and religious evangelicals attempting to link the republic's problems to the public's failure to turn into docile, obedient sheeple.
