Rumsfeld's growing stake in Tamiflu
great ...another for-profit venture for a member of the Bush administration ...making money off of fear and grief ...

NEW YORK (Fortune) - The prospect of a bird flu outbreak may be panicking people around the globe, but it's proving to be very good news for Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld and other politically connected investors in Gilead Sciences, the California biotech company that owns the rights to Tamiflu, the influenza remedy that's now the most-sought after drug in the world.

Rumsfeld served as Gilead (Research)'s chairman from 1997 until he joined the Bush administration in 2001, and he still holds a Gilead stake valued at between $5 million and $25 million, according to federal financial disclosures filed by Rumsfeld.

The forms don't reveal the exact number of shares Rumsfeld owns, but in the past six months fears of a pandemic and the ensuing scramble for Tamiflu have sent Gilead's stock from $35 to $47. That's made the Pentagon chief, already one of the wealthiest members of the Bush cabinet, at least $1 million richer.

9. Aspartame Gate: When Donald Rumsfeld was CEO of Searle
March 2004
http://www.newmediaexplorer.org/sepp/2004/05/07/aspartame_gate_when_donald_rumsfeld_was_ceo_of_searle.htm

I would like to call your attention to when Donald Rumsfeld was CEO of Searle, manufacturers of aspartame. For 16 years the FDA refused to approve it, not only because its not safe but because they wanted the company indicted for fraud. Both U.S. Prosecutors hired on with the defense team and the statute of limitations expired. They were Sam Skinner and William Conlon. Skinner went on to become Secretary of Transportation squelching the cries of the pilots who were by now having seizures on this seizure triggering drug, aspartame, and then Chief of Staff under President Bush's father. Some of these people reach high places. Even Supreme Justice Clarence Thomas is a former Monsanto attorney. (Monsanto bought Searle in l985, and sold it a few years ago). When Ashcroft became Attorney General, Thompson from King and Spalding Attorneys (another former Monsanto attorney) became deputy under Ashcroft. (Attorneys for NutraSweet and Coke).

However, the FDA still refused to allow NutraSweet on the market. It is a deadly neurotoxic drug masquerading as an additive. It interacts with all antidepressants, L-dopa, Coumadin, hormones, insulin, all cardiac medication, and many others. It also is a chemical hypersensitization drug so that it interacts with vaccines, other toxins, other unsafe sweeteners like Splenda which has a chlorinated base like DDT and can cause autoimmune disease. It has a synergistic and additive effect with MSG. (www.truthinlabeling.org). Both being excitotoxins, the aspartic acid in aspartame, and MSG, the glutamate people were found using aspartame as the placebo for MSG studies, even before it was approved. The FDA has known this for a quarter of a century and done nothing even though its against the law. Searle went on to build a NutraSweet factory and had $9 million worth of inventory.

Donald Rumsfeld was on President Reagan's transition team and the day after he took office he appointed an FDA Commissioner who would approve aspartame. The FDA set up a Board of Inquiry of the best scientists they had to offer, who said aspartame is not safe and causes brain tumors, and the petition for approval is hereby revoked. The new FDA Commissioner, Arthur Hull Hayes, over-ruled that Board of Inquiry and then went to work for the PR Agency of the manufacturer, Burson-Marstaller, at a rumored $1000.00 a day, and has refused to talk to the press ever since. Read the whole story of the history of aspartame at http://www.wnho.net/history_of_aspartame.htm This will tell you everything you need to know. Rumsfeld calling in his markers is even documented in the congressional record!

18. But why Tamiflu?
Tamiflu is neither a preventative nor a cure. At best is shortens the duration of the symptoms. The vaccine that we will need cannot be created until human flu evolves from H5N1.

Why does everybody want to throw money at Tamiflu? We should be (I hope we are) gearing up to create, replicate and distribute the vaccine when it becomes possible.

There are some FAQ answers on this WHO site

19. Tamiflu: because that's what the media has been told to spin.
You're right: it's not the required vaccine, which can only be developed if and when the virus mutates to become human-transmissible.

Spin no doubt courtesy of the Chenel cabal's financial interests.

To be charitable: could also serve as a kind of placebo, help to avoid some degree of possible panic if governments are seen to be doing something already, even if largely useless.

we were all urged to get flu shots and then, at the end of flu season, it turns out that the vaccine we rushed out to get wasn't really appropriate to the flu that was going around.

media driven hysteria. doens't matter if tamiflu is useless, if it gets mentioned on cnn enough it can be "the drug".

23. Rumsfeld Stands to WIn Big Off Bird Flu
Here is the reason why they are pushing it so hard...look who stands to gain financially from our paranoia...

Rumsfeld's growing stake in Tamiflu
Defense Secretary, ex-chairman of flu treatment rights holder, sees
portfolio value growing.
October 31, 2005: 10:55 AM EST
By Nelson D. Schwartz, Fortune senior writer

NEW YORK (Fortune) - The prospect of a bird flu outbreak may be panicking
people around the globe, but it's proving to be very good news for Defense
Secretary Donald Rumsfeld and other politically connected investors in
Gilead Sciences, the California biotech company that owns the rights to
Tamiflu, the influenza remedy that's now the most-sought after drug in the

Rumsfeld served as Gilead (Research)'s chairman from 1997 until he joined
the Bush administration in 2001, and he still holds a Gilead stake valued at
between $5 million and $25 million, according to federal financial
disclosures filed by Rumsfeld.

have sent Gilead's stock from $35 to $47. That's made the Pentagon chief,
already one of the wealthiest members of the Bush cabinet, at least $1
million richer.

Rumsfeld isn't the only political heavyweight benefiting from demand for
Tamiflu, which is manufactured and marketed by Swiss pharma giant Roche.
(Gilead receives a royalty from Roche equaling about 10% of sales.) Former
Secretary of State George Shultz, who is on Gilead's board, has sold more
than $7 million worth of Gilead since the beginning of 2005.

Another board member is the wife of former California Gov. Pete Wilson.

37. Flu vaccines in general are suspect
The government has admitted that after all of the hype around the flu vaccine in 2004 it was no more effective than a placebo. See:

http://chemistry.about.com/b/a/057945.htm
===================================================================
Why the Flu Vaccine Doesn't Work
This year, finally, the Centers for Disease Control decided to do some science and actually see whether or not the flu vaccine works. How did it turn out? Preliminary results indicate you'll get just as sick (with colds, flu, flu-like illnesses) if you got the vaccine than if you didn't. It all begs the question (which applies to a lot of other vaccines as well): Why don't vaccines get fully tested before getting endorsed by the CDC and important physician groups? It isn't as if taking a vaccine is risk-free. MSNBC has an article about the CDC's study. Here's an explanation of why the vaccine may not work.

27. Funny, I just wrote an article about avian flu in our newsletter...
...and now the motive is clear.

Here it is, if anyone is interested:

Avian Flu – What Do We Do?

Newscasters on all the television stations, and government spokespersons from all around the world, are shrieking that avian flu is coming and there’s not a damn thing we can do about it. According to a European ‘talking head’ we heard recently, avian flu “will kill about 150,000 people in Europe before the end of the year.” Anticipated worldwide deaths are up to 150 million people, according to some estimates. And I don’t even want to imagine how many poor birds are going to die or be killed in the process!
Yet, as of a week or two ago, the actual death count from avian flu in a total of two or three East Asian countries was 54. Only fifty-four deaths. That number makes me wonder if this is actually a purposeful attempt at scaring the living daylights out of us, or if it’s “real”. And just in case the flu arrives on our shores, George W. Bush wants to be able to invoke martial law by repealing the Posse Comitatus law that has been on the books since 1878, which prevents the government from using the military for police action. Thank Goddess some Ivy League law professors immediately screamed about the threat and consequences of martial law, and hopefully stopped him in his tracks. (Does this remind anyone else of the orange terror alert codes from Homeland Security?)

To make matters even worse, our own brilliant government exacerbated the situation by digging up the bodies of some victims from the horrible 1918 flu pandemic, in order to study the virus that killed them. Rumor has it that some of this little killer bug has escaped the lab and may be wreaking havoc sometime in the near future. Brilliant!

But here’s the real truth: If the flu doesn’t kill us, our fear of it may. Read that again: Our fear of the flu may kill us!

Last month in the Quantum Express we wrote about Fear vs. Faith. This would be a really good time to have the utmost faith, and vanquish any fears about the flu becoming a massive pandemic. If you expect that millions of people will die off, possibly including yourself, then that will become a very real possibility. So it is critical that you do no such thing!

I read somewhere that in 1918, when a killer flu virus was ravaging the world, one wise doctor put an advertisement in the newspaper that said, “DO NOT FEAR THE FLU!” It was the very best advice he could have given, because it speaks the Truth about the Law of Attraction. This Law states, “That which you think about most will inevitably be attracted to you (whether good or bad)”.

I have not experienced any fear whatsoever about avian flu, which actually pleasantly surprised me. I think this must be a result of having raised my awareness these past couple of years (which I highly recommend!), and learning that focused thoughts will become reality. However, I suspect that many others may die as a result of it, only because they fear it. Will I get a flu shot? Never! Whether you decide to get one is your choice, however.

Disease (dis-ease) is a weakening in your system that permits foreign enemies to invade. Your body is vulnerable to flu and other diseases if a), you believe it is vulnerable, and/or b), your energy system is weakened because you harbor ill will towards yourself and others that has been left unresolved for a long period of time, and/or c), a part of you needs further development, so you attract the disease in order to offer you an opportunity for that growth. Now might be a very good time to examine all of these possibilities, to determine whether any of them need to be resolved. (For an energy consultation, you may want to contact Jaap Van Etten (link on our site), who is an amazing energy healer who can scan your system, locate deficiencies, and help heal them.)

Sickness is merely the absence of good health. As you probably know, there is no such thing as poverty, darkness, cold, sickness, or any other ailment. There is only abundance, light, warmth, health, and then the absence of these things. If you want good health, do not focus on the flu or any other disease. Instead, focus on manifesting the presence of a strong healthy body (and resolving any past issues that you may be harboring). If you want abundance, do not focus on poverty, or the lack of abundance. Focus on the presence of abundance. And so forth…

We do not believe it’s inevitable that avian flu has to take millions of lives. If we can just spread the word that we should not foster fear about it (or fear about anything else, for that matter!), then perhaps we can reach enough people before it’s due to arrive, and stop it in its tracks. Will you join us?

Here is all we ask: Every time you meet someone who tells you they are afraid of avian flu, please ask them to reconsider their position. Share this message with them. Ask them to pass it along to others who are afraid. And together, maybe we can all stop this disease!

34. Peace I agree with many sentiments of your article
but the one thing I would like to point out is that while the flu has only killed 54 people, that has been out of 120 infected. That is not a good percentage. Obviously there were many other factors that went into those unfortunate deaths, like their health prior, diet, SES, etc. but this may be something to take with a bit of serious regard. If it has killed half of the people infected, I would really like to know why and have reliable people working on what to do to stop that. Key words: reliable people. But that might be asking much from this administration.

Enough to treat 44 million people and prevent infection in 6 million others is headed for the federal stockpile.
