Corzine draws away in NJ governor's race
TRENTON, N.J. -- U.S. Sen. Jon Corzine has drawn away from Republican rival Doug Forrester in the New Jersey governor's race over the last three weeks, according to a new WNBC/Marist poll.

The poll, released Friday, has Democrat Corzine favored by 50 percent of likely voters, compared to 40 percent for Forrester, the owner of a prescription benefits business. A WNBC/Marist poll released Oct. 10 had the two separated by only a single percentage point.

The latest result is based on a survey of 449 likely voters, conducted Oct. 24-26, with a sampling error margin of plus or minus 5 percentage points.

Other recent independent polls, with a larger sample size and a smaller sampling error margin, have Corzine ahead by about 7 percentage points among likely voters.

1. We're going to see this all over the nation.
Dems are going to be pulling away from the Repugs. This is a state change, like water to ice.

2. New Jersey deserves a democratic governor.
All the states do! *cough* except Texas, but it's getting there. ;)

5. Hilariously, Forrester is railing about "corruption"
at the very moment Republican corruption is in every headline...

He's coming down to the wire in fine fashion again...a couple weeks ago he screamed "foul" because Jon Corzine released an ad linking him to Chimpy. And the last couple days he's launched personal attacks on a paralyzed guy who did an ad supporting Corzine and stem cell research.

For those outside the Garden State, a flashback: Forrester became the GOP Senate candidate in 2002 when the Republicans stuck him in at the last minute (their primary winner got indicted {and ultimately convicted} on racketeering charges). Which didn't keep him from screaming that the Democrats were doing something wrong when Torricelli dropped out and Frank Lautenberg took over. He wobbled and waffled all campaign over assault weapons, raised prices at his HMO to pay for his campaign, and before the only debate, his supporters roughed up the elderly Lautenberg in the parking lot. And he lost by 8 points.
