Bush Warns on Higher Iraq Casualties

Associated Press Writer

WASHINGTON (AP) - With the U.S. military death toll in Iraq poised to surpass 2,000, President Bush on Tuesday warned the nation to brace for an even higher casualty count as the mission there has more work remaining to be successful.

``The terrorists are as brutal an enemy as we have ever faced, unconstrained by any notion of common humanity and by the rules of warfare,'' the president said in a speech before the Joint Armed Forces Officers' Wives' luncheon, held at Bolling Air Force Base. ``No one should underestimate the difficulties ahead.''

But, Bush added: ``Nor should they overlook the advantages we bring to this fight. ... Some observers look at the job ahead and adopt a self-defeating pessimism. It's not justified.''

The president hailed the announcement in Baghdad that an election held 10 days ago resulted in the adoption of a new constitution for Iraq. There were some allegations of fraud in the Oct. 15 referendum, but election officials said the voting was fair.

5. so when are your kids signing up eh? or do only the poor fight
Bastard. Lord I hope he has one moment of clarity, one moment when he looks into the mirror and realizes to the depths of his soul what an utterly worthless and evil man he is. Just one moment of crystal clear personal insight not fogged by booze or Jesus or drugs or some sense of entitlement. That's what I want, cause I think he would snap into a thousand pieces and have to be dragged screaming to a hospital.

Either that or impeached and convicted and run out of town on a rail after being tarred and feathered. I'm flexible.

15. Beautifully put.
I would just add one thing. When he has that "moment of truth" that all the dimwits who believed and supported him, in a blinding flash of light see him for what he is and subject him to their outrage. Oh yes, and that all the flunkies, cronies, liars and thugs who were in on it all crash and burn with him. That's two things.

6. If the commander in chief says more of our kids will die in Iraq
how are we supppose to support them? Put a magnet on our car? Vote republican? Except white house lies? Scream and shout at those who oppose the war? Make sure our kids don't enlist? The ways listed are those employed by conservatives for two plus years now. Their support of our troops got at least 2,000 of them killed. I'm only pessmistic bush because you may, and I emphasize may, have three more years to wreak havoc on the world. Hopefully, for the good of the world, you and those like you will depart in the midst of Fitzgerald's investigation.

8. As brutal an enemy as we've ever faced?
Sure puts those underachieving Nazis and Soviets in their place, doesn't it? I mean, what's a few ovens, concentration camps and nuclear weapons stockpiles when compared to the awesome power unleashed by a dedicated, justifiably angry group of folks?

What an idiot. What an idiot. You think they might be "unconstrained by any notion of common humanity" due to anything we've done? Hint: Abu Ghraib, Guantanamo Bay, Kama Aido, etc.

Does anyone believe what this fool is spouting anymore? Anyone at all?

24. an enemy he created!
Iraq did not have radical terrorists before we invaded.

Iraq did not have car bombings before we invaded.

Iraq was basically peaceful nation under a brutal dictator whose sons were evil.

Iraqi people were pacifists.

And how many more enemies does 'merika have worldwide since dubya took over??

19. they will never admit that CENTRAL truth
They still talk about 'foreign insurgents' when the military itself puts the number of foreign insurgents at no more than five percent.

Until they do, we are stuck with no leadership R or D to get us the fuck out
