New Orleans officers plead not guilty
http://www.cnn.com/2005/LAW/10/10/taped.beatings.ap/index.html

NEW ORLEANS, Louisiana (AP) -- Three New Orleans police officers pleaded not guilty Monday to battery charges based on a videotape showing two patrolmen repeatedly punching a 64-year-old man accused of public intoxication and a third officer grabbing and shoving an Associated Press Television News producer who helped capture the confrontation on tape.

After a brief hearing, at which trial was set for January 11, the officers were released on bond. They quickly left in cars without commenting.

They were suspended without pay Sunday, police spokesman Marlon Defillo said. The police promised a criminal investigation.

"It's a troubling tape, no doubt about it," Defillo said. (Watch raw footage of the beating -- 1:26)

10. Exactly. . .in fact, this entire thing is weak
"Officers are in a stressful position because they are working 24 hour shifts, an estimated 300 officers have died, disappeared or left their post, their houses are destroyed and their families are spread out all over the country?!?!"

Cry me a fucking river. . .you're in the same boat as thousands of other people, asswipes. They don't have the priviledge of taking their hopelessness, burnt out bodies, anger, frustration and despair on people because they will be arrestted.

But you sick, twisted fucks and beat up a man and phyiscally threaten a TV producer because the camera kept rolling? Fuck you hypocritical jackoffs!!!

Police are a pox on the world. That badge entitles them to do whatever and all they have to do is say "in the line of duty."

My friend, the former cop (until he had enough of the bullshit) put it best: "We can shoot someone and the worst we'll mostly get is a week of unpaid level."

Will Rogers said it best: "I never saw a problem so bad a police officer couldn't make worse."

And I don't care if there are good cops out there. Good cop, bad cop. . .you're still a oop and you still won't do the right thing if one of your own breaks the law and fucks up.

I hope there is a special place in hell (even though Jews don't believe in hell) for these shitstains.

2. soon after the Rodney King beating
posters appeared on telephone poles around where I lived with an image of the beating and the words "this happens every day". I think it's true, it happens every damn day in the US of A and gets on video and the news one every few years.

6. And they will probably get off

In Los Angeles, they had the video of the Inglewood cops slamming the Special Education 12 year old on top of the car...the three white officers GOT OFF!

It happens everyday.everyday!

9. I was thinking of that case too.
There was a tape of the kid, handcuffed behind his back, having his head slammed against the car yet the cop was acquitted and later sued the city and won. It is most likely that these cops, too, will get off.

4. if they go to jail they're dead men walking
unless they get shoved into solitary...I doubt if their fellow inmates would welcome them. If I were them I'd be seriously worried.

They deserve everything they get for abusing a position of trust.

5. Incidentally, I read a post to the effect

that people who were trying to issue money to FEMA's dispossessed victims in New Orleans are being thwarted by the police - on the grounds that it might start a riot!

I desperately hope this is not true. If so, a plenipotentiary, someone with absolute authority over all security agencies in New Orleans needs to be sent down there, get a grip of those police and expedite the payments and other charitable activities, as speedily as possible.

It's a sad fact that, such is the perversity of the authoritarism in the character of many such authority figures, myrmidons of power, who are not wealthy themselves, they are more likely to be jealous of help given to the less fortunate than if* it were given to people who are rich beyond the dreams of avarice.

*IF!!!
