36. the thing is, even a bomb being dropped on the capitol wouldn't
make chimpy's ratings go up. It just further proves the fact that we are no more safer now, than we were before. My prediction would be his numbers dropping for doing such a shit-ass job on national security.

65. Somebody had compiled a list once of "Terra Alerts" and the
events that preceded them, usually some kind of scandal in the Administration or negative economic reports, etc.

Does anyone know where that can be found? I didn't bookmark it unfortunately but it was someone here at DU who posted it.

12. Marketing Terror - the specialty of this mal-administration
http://archives.cnn.com/2002/ALLPOLITICS/09/12/schneider.iraq

September 12, 2002 Posted: 7:50 PM EDT (2350 GMT)

excerpt:

What's the political convenience? Strategist Dick Morris spelled it out in a recent column: ``Polls show that only one issue works in Bush's favor: terrorism.''

Does Morris think the president is, as they say, ``wagging the dog'' to divert attention from other issues?

``He doesn't need to wag the dog,'' Morris writes. ``He just needs to talk about wagging it to make the impact to keep control of Congress.''

<snip>

...White House chief of staff Andrew Card told The New York Times last week, ``From a marketing point of view, you don't introduce new products in August.''

WASHINGTON - The Washington Monument was evacuated Friday after a bomb threat was called in to local police.

U.S. Park Police Sgt. Scott Fear said the call came in at 2:24 p.m. EDT and the monument was evacuated a short time later. Bomb-sniffing dogs were called in and two blocks between Constitution and Independence avenues were closed off.
