Pakistan says attack threat up since joining U.S.

QUETTA, Pakistan, Oct 24 (Reuters) - Pakistani security officials said on Friday the threat of militant attacks had increased in the country's rugged southwest bordering Afghanistan since Pakistan joined the U.S.-led war on terror in 2001.

Pakistan lacked the resources to halt infiltration by members of Afghanistan's ousted Taliban and their al Qaeda allies across the porous, mountainous border in Baluchistan province, they said.

"Pakistan's decision to join the international anti-terror coalition has given militants a solid reason to fight against us," Ashraf Nasir, chief secretary of Baluchistan, told reporters.

"They have zero tolerance level. They are hardened fighters. It has added a new dimension to the law and order challenges."

1. From all I have read, it sounds like the U.S. has more enemies

than at any other time in our history. Even our oldest allies have turned against us. World opinion will be against any country siding with us. And this is after the entire world joined in sympathy for the U.S. after the 9/11 tragedy. Bush* is not good at making or keeping friends, that's for sure!:grr:
