This means Japan will have to abandon its superfortress and the engineers/troops will go home!

Britain, Australia tell Japan they will withdraw from Samawah in May

Saturday, September 24, 2005 at 10:43 JST
TOKYO — Britain and Australia have informed Japan that they plan to withdraw their troops from the southern Iraqi city of Samawah, where Japan's Ground Self-Defense Force is involved in noncombat activities, next May, Japanese government sources said Saturday.

As their withdrawal will make it impossible for the GSDF to continue its mission in Iraq, Japan's Defense Agency is close to deciding to at least maintain ASDF (Air Self-Defense Forces) activities in consideration of the United States, which wants Tokyo to keep a presence in Iraq, the sources said.
