Bush To Monitor Rita From Colorado Friday

(AP) COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. The White House said President Bush will visit the U.S. Northern Command headquarters on Friday to monitor Hurricane Rita, which is forecast to hit Texas or southwest Louisiana on Saturday.

"This will give the president an opportunity to monitor the storm and to get a firsthand look at the federal government's assistance that is going on with state and local preparations and response efforts during Hurricane Rita," White House spokesman Scott McClellan said Thursday.

Bush has been harshly criticized for the slow response by federal agencies to Hurricane Katrina.

He is expected to arrive at this air base in Colorado Springs after 6 p.m. and leave Saturday, White House spokesman Allen Abney said.

29. Troop protection from the bogeyman, I'd guess? And when the
time is right junior will rush into a flooded area and help save a black baby in front of all the media. The blacks will love him again, his poll numbers will rise instantaneously into the high 90's and then junior will head back to D.C. to take care of important business.

Expect to see this fucking moran at least twice a day for the next ten days.

26. I don't think he's there to monitor anything but his falling poll numbers.
This is part of Rove's strategy to bolster bush's numbers, but bush really should be in Texas if he doesn't want to look like such a chickenwimp. I mean, they have computers, don't they? :eyes:

I'm prayin' that Rita will calm down tremendously, first and foremost because I care about the people and the land, but for the added benefit that bush won't be able to strut around as if he actually did something to help.

Bush skipping Texas for now, heading to Colorado

WASHINGTON, Sept 23 (Reuters) - President George W. Bush canceled his trip to Texas on Friday to avoid interfering with the move of a search-and-rescue team closer to the area where Hurricane Rita was to hit, the White House said.

Instead of traveling to San Antonio, Bush will go straight to Colorado Springs, Colorado, where he will visit the U.S. Northern Command.

White House spokesman Scott McClellan said the Federal Emergency Management Agency decided to reposition the search-and-rescue teams from San Antonio closer to the storm, "and we didn't want to slow that decision up in any way. So we made the decision that we would go straight to Colorado."

I guess he realized that David Gregory was right, he really will be in the way :-)

45. Methinks he is afraid someone might ask why he came.
When I think of how his arrival will disrupt an already hectic scene, it reinforces in my mind, how little this idiot gets it. Keep the heck away and let the professionals do what they are trained to do AND don't come back later. The people can figure it out for themselves. Bush and company didn't give a damn the first time, what makes anyone think it is any different now. The poor people in LA and Texas do not need to drop everything so **** can take advantage of a photo-op. I wonder who clued him in?

(What was I thinking when I typed that? Of course DC is cut off from the world! It's part of the Bush Bubbleland, as compared to W's WaterWorld, and the Magic Kingdom of Iraq. )

So, how many fundraisers are in Colorado this weekend? Bush never bestirs himself for less than a couple of million.

Oh, that's right! The big anti-war protest is Saturday. Wouldn't want to be in town for that. Wouldn't be proper, to face the public and get feedback. Somebody might throw a pie, or something.

Think he'll catch on to how the response is going.

Nope. Dimwits going to think they're doing a heck of a job. Just look at all those people on the freeway evacuating. He'll probably give Fema medals.
