BANGKOK, Thailand (AP) -- Foot massages, highly popular in Thailand, have gained another convert.

First lady Laura Bush enjoyed one so much that she promptly snapped up $250 worth of massage oil and powder after a 20-minute session.

At the Asia-Pacific Economic forum, the Thais have gone all-out to please VIPs with superb facilities and royal spectacles. Spouses of the group's 21 leaders are being offered tours of Bangkok's historic sites.

The Thai-language Matichon newspaper featured a photograph of Mrs. Bush being massaged at a government guest house where she also bought five shawls and saw a fashion show with models from APEC's 21 member countries

1. It's probably the only time anyone has touched her
in the last 15 years.

2. I feel kind of sorry for her
She's the one player in this whole sordid affair I have some sympathy for.

5. Me, too.
She's not a bad person or anything, just has bad taste in men. I also feel bad for the twins, to some extent. Their father sets an incredibly bad example for them, and then the press lambastes them for following it, and for doing things that most of us did when we were in college.

4. Out Of The "X" Amount Of People Unemployed In The US
And the 2000+ Secret Service personell involved in addition to the 20,000 Thai troops maintaining their stance against terrorism....

Isn't it wonderful to learn that a foot-rubbing can replace her husband at the tax-payer's expense?

7. Hmm, interesting. The press usually does not report any kind of dollar
amount spent by the Bush family. I cannot recall any reporter writing about any of their expenditures. Interesting.

6. Gosh, Dick Morris would have
done it for nothing. I'm more interested to know if she got $150 million left in the $87B for a children's hospital in Iraq. Does anyone know?

10. I think so
If it was publicized as breaking news in print/TV, it meets the criteria.

Besides, I think the theft of taxpayer funds on extravagances for these hypocrites needs to be exposed.

If it were in GD or another forum, it wouldn't be noticed.

12. Who's going to administer the massage, Laura?
You can have oil and powder all day long, but a massage is nothing without the masseur/masseuse.

How precious that a foot massage is all Laura Bush needs to think about. Like her mother-in-law, she doesn't need to waste her beautiful mind on all the ugliness in the world that is/has been caused by the Bush family.

After reading that MSNBC profile of Barbara Bush today, and now hearing about the oil and powder, I keep thinking about how the Romanovs appeared to the Russian citizenry (removed, spoiled, uncaring), and what happened to them.

13. did they mean tablecloths, not shawls?

I do not feel sorry much for this woman in her middle age years desperately attempting to keep up her looks to satisfy the PR people. I feel as sorry for her as I felt for Leona Helmsly, if you know what I mean. No pity for this wealthy spoiled woman who has the opportunity to help other women not in her rich catagory, but who has said virtually nothing about women's rights since she arrived in Washington with the non elected spouse. These women I feel sorry for, as well as all the women in the world who suffer under Bush's draconian religious prohibitions that deny them the proper health care. She can do so much more than she does but appears to not have any motivation (I do not want to say lazy), but chooses to shop and eat pretty nicely when she goes tripping through Europe. What is Laura most known for? Can't think of a single thing. Can anyone?

What is Laura most known for? — Being a prop for the usurper.

17. The lot of the poor - massage the feet of the empress
I recall that when Hillary went abroad, it was to meet with women leaders and discuss the betterment of women the world over.

Laura Bush, on the other hand, knows what a peasant's good for.

18. the woman is an accessory to treason
She might not have been fair game before her recent politicization, but she is now. She's an accessory to a coup. No mercy. NO MERCY.
