New Delhi to New Orleans: Air Force waiting with relief
NEW DELHI, SEPTEMBER 6: Within 48 hours of the US opening doors for international assistance to victims of the Katrina hurricane, India was ready this evening with nearly 30 tonnes of aid loaded in an IL-76 aircraft. New Delhi was, however, still waiting for a green signal from Washington before the plane can take off.

In its first ever relief operation to the US, the Air Force plane has been loaded with consignments of ready-to-eat meals, tents and medical supplies including first-aid kits. This, official sources said, was just the first lot.

SNIP

New Delhi has also offered to send water purification units, Army medical units, and doctors experienced in treatment of water-borne diseases. But discussions are on with the US to ensure that aid is sent in line with the requirements on ground.

1. it's now a week that the international help has been delayed on purpose
specially the emergency and search and rescue teams

they were at work only 2 days after the tsunami

hundreds, maybe thousands of lives could have been saved

Bush must be held accountable

2. with all do respect
every time we question our need of help we see reports of our military helping others, as we are to be grateful of what we are doing overseas

Is this Rumsfeld and his Pentagon of compassion militarism?

4. It is hard to accept aid from other countries when
you want to take over the world...no one will understand it after all the help they gave us....
