Fraud Alert: FEMA Items Stolen
Thieves Pretend To Be ‘Procurement Officers’

POSTED: 11:32 am CDT September 3, 2005

The Federal Emergency Management Agency reports that many FEMA uniforms, badges and letterheads have been stolen in the New Orleans area and theieves there are using the items to rob people.

FEMA leaders said the crooks are referring to themselves as “FEMA Procurement Officers.” However, there are no such officers.

The agency reports that the robbers are using the phony status to steal vehicles, fuel and valuables.

In some cases, the robbers are armed. FEMA said its agents are never armed.

3. It's just FEMA doing their usual job on us.
But there is a danger here: the thieves might do a better job than the political appointees.

6. Is Baghdad Brown lying AGAIN?
That's my guess. Perhaps they should search his quarters first for the "missing" (ahem) items.

7. During L.A. riots, cop uniforms were stolen from drycleaners. There
was a fear that impersonators would wreak havoc. Not sure if they did.
