Drudge - Another Clark quote admiring [s]hitler[/s] Bush
http://www.time.com/time/nation/printout/0,8816,524416,00.html

But another Clark speech recorded by videotape suggests that his hope wasn't snuffed out too quickly. Eight months later, even as some administration officials were making the case for war against Iraq, Clark still applauded the U.S. mission in Afghanistan as he addressed a large audience at Harding University, in Searcy, Arkansas. "I tremendously admire, and I think we all should, the great work done by our commander-in-chief, our president, George Bush," he said in the January 22, 2002 speech. The university provided TIME a videotape of his remarks.

This has been posted at least 6 times already.
I can also tell you that Dean has said the same thing...

I supported the invasion of Afghanistan and the elimination of the Taliban. I thought that group was a clear and present danger to the United States, and I supported what the President did. However, there's no follow-up. The best defense policy we could have in this country is not just to have a strong military, but it is to build middle-class nations with strong democratic ideals, where women fully participate in the government. Those countries don't go to war with each other, and they don't harbor groups like al Qaeda.

What does it mean?
It means that there was a climate where if you didn't say nice things about the shrub KKKarl Rove leaked nasty things about you and your family to the press. I'm sure Mr Wilson and Mrs. Wilson-Plame know a bit about that.

Again...Give it a rest PEOPLE!
This is the Democratic Underground not the KKKarl Rove Think tank.
Don't do KKKarls work for him.
GEEZ

12. Not to nit pick...
...but your Dean quote doesn't contain any praise for Bush, only the statement that Dean agreed with the decision to pursue the Taliban in Afghanistan for their role in harboring bin Laden.

2. This was before Iraq, though.
Some here, including myself, were for invading Afghanistan to rid the world of a real terrorist stronghold.

I wouldn't have used such glowing words toward *, but I had no problem with the actions taken by the misadministration early on in Afghanistan.

Clark gets a pass from me on this one.

7. Very few here at DU
were for the Afghanistan invasion.

And none praised whistle ass.

Btw, look how well "we" did at ridding the world of a real terrorist stronghold.

They told us sweet little lies then, just like they did for Iraq. Plans to invade Afghanistan were on whistle ass' desk months before September 11, 2001.

11. I am one more of the "few" that supported our action in Afghanistan.
But, I think we are doing a bad job of following thru. over there.

4. I think the date he said speaks for itself--Jan, 2002
Only about 4 months after 9-11---EVERYONE was kissing Dumbo's ass at that time. Even I had to keep my mouth shut for a bit!

5. What is most interesting about this...
It's the fact that Drudge is bannering it and combining it with a headline about Clark's other Bush comment.

The RW really is pushing this story. It really wants to mess with our primaries.

Edited on Sat Oct-18-03 08:39 PM by Frodo
Clark is on my #1 ticket.

I just saw it as breaking news.

Didn't you get the "hitler" reference? I was equating it to the salacious stuff that drudge runs.

14. Don't you people understand yet?
The planting of these "stories" in the media is all the work of Karl Rove. It's not the swing voters he is targeting--to early to worry about that yet--it's people on the Democratic Left who Rove hopes to discourage from supporting Clark, because he is the candidate * fears the most. So all you people who get all thrown into a tizzy everytime one of these obscure quotes gets repeated--always by Drudge, Fox or Time, Hmmmmm--just remember that you are falling right into Karl Rove's trap.
