I can also tell you that Dean has said the same thing...

I supported the invasion of Afghanistan and the elimination of the Taliban. I thought that group was a clear and present danger to the United States, and I supported what the President did. However, there's no follow-up. The best defense policy we could have in this country is not just to have a strong military, but it is to build middle-class nations with strong democratic ideals, where women fully participate in the government. Those countries don't go to war with each other, and they don't harbor groups like al Qaeda.

What does it mean?
It means that there was a climate where if you didn't say nice things about the shrub KKKarl Rove leaked nasty things about you and your family to the press. I'm sure Mr Wilson and Mrs. Wilson-Plame know a bit about that.

I wouldn't have used such glowing words toward *, but I had no problem with the actions taken by the misadministration early on in Afghanistan.

The planting of these "stories" in the media is all the work of Karl Rove. It's not the swing voters he is targeting--to early to worry about that yet--it's people on the Democratic Left who Rove hopes to discourage from supporting Clark, because he is the candidate * fears the most.
