Bush tells Koizumi UN is "old" and should be reformed: official

TOKYO : US president George W. Bush told Japanese Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi the United Nations is US President George W. Bus"old" and its structure should be reformed, according to a senior Japanese foreign ministry official.

Bush made the comment after Koizumi asked him to "consider making better use of the United Nations" to spread America's ideals of freedom and democracy, the official told reporters.

"President Bush said 'I can undertand that point but the problem is the United Nations is old now and there is a need to reform the UN structure'," said the official, who was giving a briefing on the two leaders' discussions over dinner.

4. What a twirp
Bush's policy of pre-emption doesn't have any rules at all. I feel scared every time Bush says something about Foreign Policy. To me, it just makes the future scarier than it is now.

5. We can't send that dolt anywhere without him fucking up.
He barely manages to get the UN resolution passed and then goes off and starts bad mouthing them again.

Can this man see any farther than his nose?

6. why doesn't he just tell people..
That he is the all-powerful CEO of planet Earth and all those insignificant, other, little nations better just shut up and do everything that he tells them.

It's obviously what he means.

7. Typical little boy Bushy
didn't get what he wanted--couldn't bully anyone and the headlines are NOT complimentary to his efforts to bully, once more, the UN-that made him very mad-,Bush, the little frat brat cannot do anything or behave in a mature manner, which is foreign to him, must blame them--they are "old"--they are anything he says they are, as long as he can villify them--I suggest they are laughing thier heads off at him--and his dumbfatassed subservient joker smiling vacant eyed defender of the Afganistan women (NOT) , little wifey as they pose for this photo waving in tandem from the AF1 platform like two jerky, wooden headed puppets. They are an embarrassment to this country. Both of them. I am embarrassed by their presence and wish they would go back to the Texas pig farm and live there together happily ever after wallowing in mud.

11. The UN does need reform
but not the kind *'s talking about! Kofi Annan is working really hard to push the reform issue, because so many countries are stubborn and resistant to change.

24. Damn Straight! Reform #1: No more Security Council 1-nation vetos
I remember a while back I looked up the number of UN resolutions that the USA, and the USA acting practically alone, had vetoed. It was about 100. The ones concerning Israel, in particular, number about 50.

It's so farking blatant. Anyone who pays attention knows the USA is directly supporting some very serious abuses of human rights.

13. The United Nations is less than a year older than Bush ...
http://www.yale.edu/unsy/Oralhist/krasno/oral_history.html#born

United Nations (in its present form) -- formed 24th October, 1945 with ratification of the charter.

George Walker Bush -- conceived sometime in early October, 1945 (since he professes to be "pro-life" this takes precedence over his actual birth date of July 6, 1946, yes?)

So he's "old" too. Can we reform him as well?

You don't get the desired results by making statements like that. Sheesh!

17. Bush has no shame
He ignores UN warnings about an unprovoked invasion; runs roughshod over UN objections and launches the Halliburton War anyway - using words like "irrelevant" to describe the UN; finds the going a bit rougher than expected - Iraqi resistance, long troop tours and sagging morale, and blatant lies about the reasons for invasion; belligerently begs the UN for troops and financial assistance; and then after getting an additional $87 billion from you and me (on top of already record deficits), he has the nerve to call for UN "reform"? Wow...

:puke:

18. From the mouth of a delinquent Peter Pan
Why doesn't he just say "the problem is the United States is old now and there is a need to reform the US structure"? I guess he has more ambition than merely shredding one countries constitution.

26. Saw a story linked here earlier today...
...that referred to the US as an "18th-century democracy." (Compare France, Germany, Japan, all 20th century democracies.)

Think I'm gonna start using that line. ;-)

23. Koizumi was probably worried Bush was going to vomit on him.
i just bet how the busheviks would like to re-arrange the power sharing at the UN, inticing japan with a permenant seat on the security council is just one way.

of course in the fine tradition of the original US constitution, under bush's UN plans, african nation votes will most likely be accorded as 3/5's of a vote.
