Investigation widens with 6 held in Pakistan, chemist detained in Egypt

LEEDS, England - Pakistani security forces have detained two men in the eastern city of Lahore on suspicion of links with one of the suicide bombers in last week’s attacks in London, an intelligence official said on Saturday, as the death toll from the explosions rose to 55.

The overnight detention came hours after the security agencies investigating connections with the bombings rounded up four suspects in the central city of Faisalabad.

Meantime, police in Egypt questioned a biochemist and were deciding whether to hand him over to Britain for the subway bombing investigation after authorities in the northern English town of Leeds reportedly found traces of explosives in the man’s bathtub.
