London Bombs May Have Been Suicide Attacks
By THOMAS WAGNER, Associated Press Writer
5 minutes ago

LEEDS, England - New evidence suggests four attackers blew themselves up on London subway trains and a bus last week in what would be the first suicide terror attacks in western Europe, authorities said Tuesday in announcing a major breakthrough in the case.

Police raided a half-dozen houses in a heavily Muslim neighborhood looking for explosives, computer files and other evidence. A town councilor told The Associated Press that at least three of the presumed suicide bombers were British citizens of Pakistani ancestry.

One bomber was thought to be Shahzad Tanweer, a 22-year-old cricket-loving sports science graduate, and another was a teenager, the British news agency Press Association reported.

Closed-circuit TV video showed the suspects arriving at King's Cross station by 8:30 a.m. on Thursday, about 20 minutes before the blasts began, Peter Clarke, head of the Metropolitan Police anti-terrorist branch, told a Scotland Yard news conference.

2. and from Friday: No indication suicide bombers behind London blasts
No indication suicide bombers behind London blasts
LONDON (AFP) - There is no evidence to suggest that suicide bombers were behind the series of deadly blasts in London, the city's police chief told reporters.

"There is absolutely nothing to suggest that this was a suicide bombing attack although nothing at this stage can be ruled out," Metropolitan Police Commissioner Ian Blair said of the attacks on three underground trains.

An anti-terrorism official, Andy Hayman, added that in the train bombings, "each device that was used had less than 10 pounds (4.5 kilogrammes) of high explosive" and their placement was "likely to be on the floor of the carriage."

Blair said that in the case of the double-decker bus blown up there was also no indication that a bomber deliberately set off an explosive device while on board the vehicle.

6. The story has shifted more times than a boat in bad weather
I am getting seasick from it.

Subway bombs were a half hour apart - now 50 seconds apart.
Bombs were crude and low quality explosives - now high grade military.
Bombs were on timers - now suicide bombers.

It makes you wonder.

10. Makes you wonder what?

That the media and government didn't have the exact story straight away while bombs were going off all over town?

I am far more concerned by the US Governments ability to have their story completely straight a day or so after 9/11 and never waver from it. That suggests a set up.

The Brit Govt changing its story as new facts emerge indicates they are actually responding as new facts are uncovered, not just rigidly sticking to a cover story.

15. Or framing the story as the facts develop, for maximum advantage.
"Fitting the facts to suit the policy" is the term used in the Downing Street Minutes about the Iraq war. I don't know if this is the case for sure - some of the changes in the theory of the case can be seen in the light you give.

I grant there is a chance that this is all just how the case is developing, but the U.K. government went along with Bush's lies for the sake of the Iraq war (even abetted them). One has to remember that it has a track record of lying to further political and foreign policy ends. Unfortunately things have to be seen in that light.

Frankly, much of how I eventually come to see the official story will turn on what the political implications are. If they seem fairly neutral, I will probably put a fair bit of trust in them. If they end up pointing to a convenient target (say, Iran) then I will harbor grave doubts.

16. Iran
Very much doubt that will raise its head. If, as it looks like, the bombers were native born Brits, the Govt will have to work very hard to prevent a major backlash. There are already some very touchy areas in the UK - Bradford, Keighley - where rioting between whites and Muslim youths has occured. It could be ugly. The BNP will probably win an East London council seat on the strength of that feeling this week.

19. It looks like this may not be turned into an international crisis
Bad as the alternative is (British born), it is better than international escalation, I think. Anyway, I just hope the police pursue the truth without any agendas getting in the way. I look forward to seeing some trials and evidence for a change.

20. Yep
There is no way the British people would support international action either. They are not as easily riled up in bloodthirsty nationalist fervour as some Americans.

3. i don't believe them
clear up the DSM crime first, punish them murdering terrs first, then maybe what the lying pig AP says can be believed.
we live in a culture where the nazipoos wins if there is no terror, they win if the terrorists are caught setting up an attack, but they win most of all if the terror attack occurs as planned.

In favor of the Fox News-y "Homicide Bomber" can even TALK about this subject.

Edit: I'm not talking about the OP, of course, if anyone's wondering.

5. If true, that's bery bad news: it means whatever country they are in
they are citizens of that country and legally inside, not having to sneak in and get caught with materials, thereofer they could be making their killing machines with various materials bought inside the country. They are citizens of evey country. That's what's so dangerous.

London bombers 'were all British'

After a day of intensive police activity, detectives say at least one of four suspected London bombers died in last week's Tube and bus blasts.

Security sources said it was likely three men whose belongings were found at the scenes are dead - there is a question mark about the fourth bomber.

Am I insane?? Is this not totally contradictory one sentence right after the other in the same article?? I read and re-read this like 5 times!!

AND another article

One London bomber died in blast

Police believe at least one of the suspected London bombers died in Thursday's blasts. They said there was forensic evidence that the bomber responsible for the train explosion at Aldgate died there.

Personal documents of three suspects were also found close to the explosions suggesting all four died in the blasts.

ONE THREE FOUR?!?!?! Are they just trying to confuse the shit out of us until we can't even remember our own names?

8. You're not insane, but it does make sense
They have forensic evidence that one died at Aldgate (a hand with fingerprints that match that at his home? Something like that). They have posessions and/or identification from another 2 at Edgware Road and on the bus (though, strangely, there are said to be posessions for one person at both Aldgate and Edgware Road), so they think it's likely they died in the explosions too (though it would be possible for them to leave their posessions next to the bomb, in the hope of muddying the waters, I suppose). They think that since it's likely that 3 went to be suicide bombers, and there was a 4th explsoion and the 4th person cannot be found, that he was probably killed too, but they have no evidence for that yet.

It just sounds like a bunch of bullchit to me.

Oh but i might be a bit cynical...:argh:

13. No, I don't think they said by remote
(mobile phones don't work in the deep Tube tunnels). But they did talk about timers, and that is still an open question that they need to provide answers for.

11. No
It means they KNOW one died in the blast and SUSPECT that three others may have as well because they have found documents nearby.

12. How do they already have suspects?
How do they suddenly today know it was 4 suicide bombers and know their identitys, when yesterday they said it was timers and high grade military explosives?

Well, I guess if they're saying now it was suicide bombers, and they're all dead, well then I guess that's that, Cased Closed!

14. there were more then 50 victims...
4 of them will now be called the suicide bombers, simple as that...meanwhile it turns out that a security company was holding a 'prepareness' exercise at exactly same time as the london bombing...some of the details from that exericise apparently got mixed up with news reports from the real thing(?)...
only blairbush benefit from this, not al cia does, so the truth, if we want it, should be tortured outta blairbush :)

21. Since Muriel & Sweethear are UK'ers I think we have to trust
they know how their bobbies work much better than us'n yanks do.

I believe it now, and while it is a relief that the mad bombers are
not getting in from outside Enlgand, it's not a relief that they're
making home grown.

That's a signal for all the other home-grown cells to start bombing and suicide bombing all over the world.

And it also tells you something we yanks really didn;t know fully.

The Pakistanis sympathize with "alka" meaning Musharaf may well lose
the election and be replaced by a sympathizer too.

That more or less means they get a free hand. And to extrapolate, the Pakistanis have THE bomb and the materials - just slipping it
to someone, or just the uranium could mean it doesn';t have to be
a big bomb, but a dirty bomb to do the nasty thing.

A population which adorizes the bomb so much they paint it on their
buses as a new deity, is beyond fathomable.

Karma. Bad Karma. The USA to end WW2 are the only ones who have ever used it - in Japan - and at the time they didn't even know what it would do. The pictures of the wreckage and the evaporation of people, just shadows on walls should perhpas be replayed for the world - then again, with these youths, psychopathic killers filled with or brainwashed with hatred, seeing what THE bomb has done in the past just might be encouragement.

Bravo to the UK police and bobbies for finding all those bomb making
factories in homes and cars within a week's time of the horror!
