Former state prosecutor arrested in Mexico 'dirty war' case
7:31 a.m. June 22, 2005

PACHUCA, Mexico – Federal police have arrested a former Hidalgo state attorney general accused of involvement in the disappearance of six radical farmers in the 1970s.

More than 100 agents of the federal attorney general's office surrounded the house of Alejandro Straffon Arteaga and took him from his house in an ambulance shortly before 10 p.m. late Tuesday.

Special federal prosecutor Ignacio Carrillo alleges that Straffon in 1974 improperly released the six militants from state custody into the hands of federal security officials. There were never seen again in public. <snip>
