30,000 to lose welfare benifits
VICTORIA (CP) - The Opposition New Democrats and poverty groups fear thousands of British Columbians will be cut off welfare next spring because they couldn't find a job after two years on assistance.

Almost 30,000 people could lose their benefits when a Liberal government welfare time limit kicks in April 2004, the NDP said Wednesday.

Human Resources Minister Murray Coell said he couldn't estimate how many people may end up losing their welfare benefits next spring. He said he is attempting to find jobs for every British Columbian on welfare.

1. Why should the Colombian government give welfare to the British?
It doesn't make any sense. :)

3. Two years without work?
I would clean, wash and wax latrines before I'd sit on my ass for two years. There is always some service that needs done and nobody is too good to scrape by with less than ideal work.

But sometimes someone else has beat you to even that job. So then what do you do when there are no openings?

The cure to welfare isn't telling folks to find a job in a shrinking job market while giving tax cuts to the rich... It's in creating and retaining jobs here in the US,(or Canada) and the best way to do that is in a growing economy.
